Hi,
Choices, choices.... The Buyer's Guide has too many choices for boards. In addition, I see a lot of builds tagged with [success] but then later they mention that sleep doesn't work or that there is no audio after returning from sleep. This doesn't sound like success to me.
Is there...
Your missing Bloomfield. Bloomfield, Clarkdale & Lynnfield are all in the first Core i microarchitecture, codename Nehalem.

To those attempting enabling a 5xx card on release 10.7.2:
Yes, it can be done
Yes it works great
BUT there are some trade offs.
1) Reboot doesn't work or is broken due to the unofficially supported card. The monitors turn of but the BIOS never relaunches. No biggie just hit the reset...
Curious, whats your score when you run the 32bit version of Geekbench? I haven't sprung for a licences yet. Don't go to effort on this one if you don't have a 32bit version handy.
Yep, Legacy Kernel worked great to fix the time problem and it now show the overclocked freq in About This Mac. I grabbed the 10.4 (for 10.6.4) here:

If you want to move past 4.0Ghz, try turning on Load Line Calibration in the BIOS. The...
Re: 980x works with iBoot, How? and how to fix CMOSreset nonDSDT
We, looks like the only way to get the clock to track is to use leave bclk at default of 133.... grr
Re: 980x works with iBoot, How? and how to fix CMOSreset nonDSDT
I haven't had a chance to investigate. I'm overclocking bclock from 133 to 166. This means that effectively with busratio 25 its running at 4.15Ghz but About this Mac still says its running at 3.33Ghz. And this doesn't include...
Re: 980x works with iBoot, How? and how to fix CMOSreset nonDSDT
EDIT: Wow, ya. I'm seeing the same thing. Thats bad ....
I haven't noticed any clock problems. I haven't left it up continuously long enough to notice a problem. How long does it take to notice the problem?
I know there are...
Re: 980x works with iBoot, How? and how to fix CMOSreset nonDSDT
force64 and busratio=25 are no longer needed with 10.6.4 :-)
Only issue I've seen so far is About this Mac doesn't recognize the Processor
I've attached my DSDT that was created via d00b's method...
Re: 980x works with iBoot, How? and how to fix CMOSreset nonDSDT
When you applied d00d's optimization in that thread, did you see he has the 980x's PState and CState table posted in Post #1 item "5)"? This is a big deal. It will give you native power management (NPM). NPM is absolutely...
Re: 980x works with iBoot, How? and how to fix CMOSreset nonDSDT
Have you updated to 10.6.4? Rumor has it that it brings native kernel support for the 980x. I'm waiting just a bit to see how it flushes out in general. I've only heard of a few very minor issues so far.

Re: 980x works with iBoot, How? and how to fix CMOSreset nonDSDT
Hi,
I extracted the attached DSDT using 64bit Ubuntu 10.04 . My config was:
i7-980x
GA-EX58-UD5 rev1.0
BIOS 12
The raw DSDT is i7-980x-unedited-from64bUBT1004-dsdt.aml
I compile it via DSDTSE 1.4.3 and fixed a couple of...
