    How to Fix iMessage

Just thought that I post my experience with calling Applecare regarding the iMessage lockout. I was calling from Malaysia. Called Applecare. Told him that I couldn't login to iMessage and about the message to contact Apple Support. I lied and told him that it was on my MacBook. AppleGuy...

    How to Fix iMessage

@jaymonkey Thanks for info and, in fact, all the great work that you've done here. I've reverted to Chimera 2.2.1 and FileNVRAM 1.1.2, removed SMsystemuuid from smbios.plist, added SystemId into org.chameleon.Boot.plist and am happy to report that both ROM and MLB are now persistent across...

My board is a Zotac Z77ITX-A-E. (build link is sig) Currently running 10.8.4, Chimera 3.0.1 and FileNVRAM.dylib 1.1.3. SMsystemuuid (generated with uuidgen) is defined in smbios.list and is consistent with IODeviceTree:/efi/platform/system-id. SMserial is an iMac serial number generated...

    miramar's Zomac - Zotac Z77ITX - i5 3570K - HD4000 - Mini-ITX - Mountain Lion

No probs. What you do is open Terminal, it's in Applications/Utilities and type this at the command prompt: sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions it'll ask for your password. After that, just restart the PC.

No way I can boot without safe mode

It might not be a VT-d problem. I think some Asus boards have VT-d disabled by default. Suggest you try without the GTX670. See if you can get it to work with only HD4000. When you installed ML, did you have to boot Unibeast USB with -x as well? Post a -v screenshot if you can.

    Soundcard

Don't think so. I'm quite sure the reason OS X turns off the sound system is for power conversation and not for prolonging the life of the sound chip.

    i5 3570k idle temp

I wouldn't worry about the CPU temps. What I would be interested in is the delta between that and the ambient temp.

Stuck on first grey apple screen

Disable VT-d in BIOS, just VT-d not Intel Virtalisation Technology (VT-x).

    Which 27" monitor?

Not to mention that you can get the same panel that's in the Cinema Display from other brands at a fraction of the cost.

    Recovering data

See if you can copy the iPhone album manually in Finder. Check Console for I/O Errors. Hopefully there are none.

    Recovering data

mr_z, yes you can. Remove and hook up your MBP's HD to your hackintosh. Run Migration Assistant on your hackintosh. If all is well, it should see your MBP user account and allow you to transfer your apps and documents. PS: You don't need a Time Machine backup for this.

This doesn't apply to him because he's using a 3570k. He wouldn't have a VT-d setting in his BIOS.

    Help

You didn't tell us that this was an upgrade. Go and delete /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/Plugins/OEMsmbios.kext and you should be OK.
