Wow! Not smooth at all. BUT I finally got it updated. My first issue was I should have kept reading this post and find out that I needed to update Clover; I was running 10.5.3 on Clover r49xx (I forgot the number). I did the update, and I just got the Apple logo on a black screen. No progress...

KNOCK ON WOOD, but I did a straight update right from System Prefs from Mojave to Catalina and everything looks fine. It also didn't take too long (about 20-30 min.). BT works, audio works, network works.

I do like the fact that it warns you which programs will no longer work if you update to Catalina. I was about to go ahead with the install and the warning message popped up. I'm going to have to wait on the update until I find replacement programs for the ones that will be disabled in Catalina.

Hi I was able to use the Mac Pro mid 2010 defn. My system runs just fine. Now with the recent updates I have FaceTime and iMessages working again (although iMessages is still hit or miss).

I use two. I find it great to work on the larger screen while viewing a movie or tv show on the smaller screen. Of course I don't much work done =). It's also great to be able to spread out windows/apps on the two screens and simply work the dragging and dropping of photos, text, etc.
