Help Installing on ASUS P9X79 PRO

Short's Beastly Build - i7-4770k - GA-Z87X-UD3H - GTX 770 4GB you've got an ivy bridge e processor, which are not natively supported in os x yet. therefore you need a patched kernel, which you should be able to find by using google.

    best 2011 motherboard?

true, however since most of us will buy pc-components over the internet, the likelihood is quiet high that the firmware version won't be up to date. and sending the mobo to gigabyte or bringing it to a local electronics store will cost you time and money. that's why i'd like to go with a asus...

    best 2011 motherboard?

i've asked myself the same question, since i'm going to build the same system except with a windfroce gtx 770 4gb. the thing about gigabyte boards is that they aren't natively capable of running a ivy bridge e cpu, since they usually don't ship with the updated bios, thus you won't be able to...

    Building a CustoMac: Buyer's Guide December 2013

I'm just hoping the 4930k will be supported natively with the release of OS X 10.9.1 and the new Mac Pro. Until then, I'm waiting. It would be nice to see the GK110B-based Nvidia Gpu's supported as well, so I can build a truly future proof machine, but oh well, can't have everything you want. :)
