Hello. I would like to share an idea on how to hide an ATX power supply and all your cables in the G5 case.

First off I have been thinking and planning a G5 case mod since the summer when I was given a non-working G5 from my mother's old friend on Facebook. I have run into a few problems that stopped me from doing a G5 mod.

I was thinking this past week mainly on how shall I hide a PSU/Cables/HDD (Not sure if I would hide my storage or not) and I thought that if I bought carbon fiber vynal wrap I could connect it to the top of the PSU, the top of the case, and the back of the case in a way that would make a curve between the top/back and the bottom/back of the case. This would give some room for cable management and it would hide the power supply.

Also I will post a image of my G5 case mod (It will be the best case mod around the forum that I have seen so far.) around new years (when my dad has time to order/pick up the things I need for the build.

Also I will post 3D models of what I am talking about in the near future. Don't wait on me to do it though.

DatScreamer welcome to the forum.

I am pleased that you are doing a G5 Power Mac hackintosh and will share your progress and ideas with the community.

I too became interested in G5’s and Mac Pros some time ago and found documentation of some hacks that set the standard very high. For example, check out http://www.s155158671.websitehome.co.uk/index.html

However you are in the correct forum today should you have questions and or want opinions on related topics.

Good modding,
neil

Thanks for that link. I was pricing out a plexi or some sort of acrylic side panel, they are so expensive to do the whole panel, your linking of that website really helped me out.

I thought about how to make my cheap motherboard look better, hide fan cables etc and I thought:

-Superglue standoffs to back of case
-Superglue another standoff to screws
-Screw in screws to 1st standoffs
-Glue/Tape carbon fiber viynal to all motherboard screws
-Cut out heatsink, CPU socket, etc out of viynal

...Excuse my spelling...
