Motherboard
MSI Z170A Gaming 5
CPU
i5-6700K
Graphics
MSI GTX-960
Mac
  1. iMac
  2. MacBook Air
Mobile Phone
  1. iOS
I've just completed my new build, as follows;
Fractal Define R5 case
MSI Z170A Gaming M5 Skylake
Crucial 16GB (4x4) DDR4-2133
Samsung SSD M.2 2280 500G
Samsung SSD M.2 2280 250G
DVL-CH12NS30 LG 12X Blu-Ray Internal Combo
i5-6600K
Noctua U12S
Corsair RM750
MSI GTX960
I've installed Windows 10 on the 250Gb m.2 SSD, and plan to install Yosemite on the 500Gb.
I realise that this isn't a supported configuration, but I wanted to ask for any assistance that experienced members of the community might be prepared to offer.
So far, I've tried Multibeast - which shows a white Apple logo on a grey background, then nothing. No amount of typing at the boot screen has any effect.
Clover goes to the boot manager screen, and won't exit that.
I'm not sure what to try next, and any assistance would be appreciated.

It is said that the OS X kernel checks the CPU ID and it stops in case the CPU is not supported. Apparently, Skylake is not listed on the supported CPU database in the current OS X version.

You may be able to boot using Clover's FakeCPUID kernel patch, although integrated graphics and power management are not expected to work properly.

You mean UniBeast, not MultiBeast...right?

I have nearly the same build as yours (i5-6600K, M5, 16GB DDR4, GTX 980Ti). I was able to use the FakeCPUID patch (in clover) to go all the way up to com.apple.applesfcompressiontypezlib load succeeded after which it gets stuck. I think power management loads after this and hence it doesn't work quite as expected. I guess we have to wait for skylake macs...

Does the MoBo work now? :)
