That CPU cooler is way too large and overkill for the T series CPU, its only 45W and can't be overclocked so theres no reason for it. If it even fits, its going to fill almost the whole space... just get a low profile one, you can't hear the fan. I don't recommend a PCIE riser cable with any video card, they don't work well and just cause tons of headaches. if you want to do any graphics related stuff such as gaming it causes it to freeze in my experience.

I saw your post for an attempt at a Cube build. What PCIE extender cable did you use?

Do you have El Cap installed or is this KP happening while trying to boot the UniBeast built installer? What is the model of the WiFi/BT card?

If this is at installation, you should post in the EL Cap support forum. If El Cap is up and running then your post should be in the Post Inatallation/Network forum. By posting here you probably do not get much exposure to your issue.

The IO on the front of the STX card is yet to be sorted out. The audio should go to the top for headphones and also to the bottom plate to support external speakers.

Then what to do with the USB type C connector and the standard USB 3.0 type A connector?

Do I need a standard power on switch? Top or bottom or both?

I have purchased a slot loading DVD R/W, Blu-Ray player, along with a 1TB 2.5” HDD. Do I need an eject button for the optical drive and how would I wire that up and where?

And where is the stand-by power on the MB for the touch switch?

I have the system assembled, less the optical drive and HDD and wiring for front panel. This is just to be able to get the core into the stock G4 Cube acrylic case and run first round of thermals.

The is with the i7-6700T, OS X 10.11.6

I had to run Prime95 torture test, GeekBench 3 stress test and UNiGiNE Heaven concurrently to load up the system. CPU temps reached 55C and SM951 to 58C after about 30 minutes. Idle temp are 28C to 30C with the ambient of 24.4 C.

I am wondering if I should build a heat sink for the SM951.

Anyway it does appear that this box can run with the single fan.

What are you using for your PSU?

I've been looking for external PSU's and i've come up empty handed.

Did you manage to fit a PSU inside your cube, or are you using an external one?

Can you provide a link?
 
Snake on this system I am using a compatible power brick from Amazon, a 120W 19VDC unit by Oneda, model AAS12019632A.

A little background: The "Thin Mini-ITX" and the new "Mini-STX" form factor motherboards use external AC to DC power at 19VDC. If you follow my builds you would learn that I have used a number of Thin Mini-ITX motherboards in my projects and on those I use Dell laptop power bricks (part number CM889 is a favorite as it is slim and rated at 90 Watts).

The DC input receptacle is not the same between the two types of motherboards. That is the reason that I sourced the Oneda power brick for the ASUS H110S1 STX motherboard.

Should you decide to use a standard Mini-ITX motherboard for you G4 Cube project you will need to select an internal PSU and then deal with all of the related issues. These include dealing with the heat generated by the internal unit, dealing with the cabling and the space consumed by the PSU.
