Hi Stork! Thank you for the awesome guide. This has saved me several times. I have an NVMe SSD that I want to use though that's coming in the mail and I'm prepping for it. Can I just ask, what is the SSDT.aml file you refer to? I ran the command and got the kext from the patch-nvme-master, but then when you say the SSDT.aml I don't seem to have one... Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'd seriously appreciate a response! Thanks in advance.

The SSDT.aml file is for power management of the processor and is separate from the patch-nvme-master. The SSDT.aml is processor specific so, if you want to have good power management, make sure you get the one for your processor model. The patch-nvme-master is only for M.2 NVMe SSD. Finally, the SSDT.aml and the resulting kext from running the patch-nvme-master.sh go in different places in the /EFI/EFI/Clover/ folder as stated in Post #1's Installation instructions.

Okay thank you for clarifying! I appreciate it. Should I create that file using this guide?: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/quick-guide-to-generate-a-ssdt-for-cpu-power-management.177456/

I have a 6700K processor

Hi Stork, sorry to keep commenting on this thread so much, but I really need some help. I followed your guide to a T and can't seem to get the NVMe drive to boot. I put the kext I made from the patch-nvme-master into EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11 after running Multibeast with your exact config which also matches my own and got the waiting for root device (and prohibited sign) when I booted with -v. Am I to also put the NVMeGeneric.kext in the 10.11 folder along with the HackrNVMeFamily-10_11_6.kext? Or place it in my System/Library or System/Library/Extensions? Any advice to get this NVMe drive booted would be a huge help because I know it's possible! Thanks for your time in advance.

Only use one or the other NVMe kext. I prefer the HackrNVMeFamily-10_11_6.kext and it only works in the /EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11 folder. I recommend the NVMeGeneric.kext for the UniBeast thumb drive because that kext is already created.

The "waiting for root device" message sounds like you're not using the USB BIOS Flashback port for your installation thumb drive.

So the USB port that I install OS X from matters? When I got it to work on my SATA SSD I installed OS X from one of my front ports. I can successfully install OS X to the 750 Series SSD, but when I get to the second part of the install (post install with NVIDIA drivers and Multibeast and what not), it is once I restart from there that I cannot seem to boot past the "waiting for root device" which is when I select to boot to the 750 Series SSD from clover.

I used the NVMeGeneric.kext on my USB drive to get my 750 Series SSD recognized and installed on. From there I used the HackrNVMeFamily-10_11_6.kext once I got to the post install and put it in just /EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11.

Do you think it is because I created my installation USB from a MacBookAir 6,2? (Which I also did for the sucessful SATA install)

Also, seriously thank you for your quick response, I'm really hoping I can get this working.

Thanks for writing and supporting this guide Stork, was a huge help in terms of preparing for the build (particularly when choosing the Samsung 950) and then the actual build (yesterday).

Two points that came up for me:
1. I needed to select 'USB ownership' to boot the installer (set it with Clover Configurator post-install)
2. NVMeGeneric.kext is at http://www.macvidcards.com/nvme-driver.html rather than http://www.macvidcards.com/nvme-driver1.html linked in the first post. I went to HackrNVMeFamily-10_11_6.kext post-install

Off to get comfortable with a backup procedure so that I can experiment with the various fine tuning suggestions and then get installing what I need :)

Thank you, JamesGallagher, for the link correction. It has changed several times since I initial wrote my Installation Notes.

I am not familar with the "USB ownership" setting. You stated that you need to modify the UniBeast created USB Installation thumb drive after you installed El Capitan. Is that correct? Or after you created installation thumb drive?
