Continuity and Handoff Capable Apple Mini Cards + PCIe and mini-PCIe Adapters

problem is...can't turn the computer off...it just restarts after a few seconds. Tried to enable/disable erp...tried to disable wake on lan...nothing seems to help...any ideas? Once I pull the card...the system works perfect again...even sleeps as it should...!!!

Just installed a BT/WiFi card successfully (this one for the europe/german-guys, didn't find it on amazon.com) but now I'm facing the same problem. The hackintosh turns off (light on case as well) and immediately restarts. No problem without the card. Since I haven't changed any options in terms of waking the system I'm kind of clueless where to start looking for the troublemaker. So another one to ask: Any idea how I can get my hack to shut down again? :)

EDIT: I tried disabling wake on lan, no success. Can't shut down the system after using Win 10 either. Nice try

There is way to remedy this, but it is to do with USB ports (believe it or not).

Assuming you have a Skylake PC, initially most of us use the 15-30 Port Fix to get all the USB sockets working. This should be considered only temporary. You really need to work through Ammulder's USB guide to get things working correctly. It's at:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/10-11-0-10-11-3-skylake-starter-guide.179221/

You need section #7.

When you have identified your ports and are building the SSDT in #7.2.2 you need to ensure that the USB motherboard header which you have attached the USB lead for your combo BT/WiFi card is set to code "255" as per the guide. 0, 3 or 10 will not work for this port.

Once you have done this, your machine should shut down correctly.

:)

You can also try enabling FixShutdown in your config.plist

Nice, thanks a bunch, that did it. Too easy to come up with by myself I suppose...

Thank you for the hint! Altough I'm using Haswell, I will have a look at the guide, maybe I can fix some USB-craziness.

Do the OSXWIFI guys read this thread, or do you happen to know them? If affirmative please tell them to take a look at their email, I asked them some questions before buying the adaptor, but got no reply.

Hi there,

I purchased a "native" bluetooth + WiFi PCIe card as well as a mini PCIe adapter.

Card:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/381710689427?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Adapter:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/252247256542?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Note: The card had 4 antenna ports. I have connected only 2 of them to the antenna extension cables. (My motherboard has only 2 of those)

The good parts:
  • The card was recognized correctly and WiFi is working out of the box.
  • Airdrop works one way. My macOS Sierra hackintosh sees my iPhone running iOS 9 and is able to send files to it.
  • I am able to connect to my 5Ghz WiFi network
  • Handoff works one way. I am able to continue things running on my Hackintosh from my iPhone.
The weird parts:
  • Bluetooth is shown to be active, but keeps searching for devices and nothing ever shows up.
  • See attached images for System Reports on Bluetooth and WiFi; they both seem to detected and running; but I can't connect my bluetooth speakers.
Is it because I did not connect the remaining antenna ports?
Should I purchase separate bluetooth antenna extension cables? Is that even a thing?

Thanks in advance for your help!

This one is the Bluetooth antenna:

But yes you should probably pick up another two antennas, there is a reason it has 4 connectors :)

EDIT:
Something like this should do the job: External antennas + internal connector

Thanks so much!

I did get the internal laptop antennas before reading your reply.
Bluetooth works and recognizes my speakers.

One annoyance is that every time, I hand off an app to my iPhone, the sound coming from the bluetooth speakers sputters. It is fine when I am not handing off apps.

Sounds like you've covered most angles then.

On a previous build I used a different pci-e card with a BCM94360CD Broadcom device and used a larger aerial for BT on that too. Not sure if your card is the same but this photo I found online at MacRumours helped me identify the BT connection. The aerials seem to be on J0-J3 and it's J3 you see in this photo that's the BT.

Can't think of anything else other than the PCI-e connection not delivering enough power. I was confused about this previously and asked on the forums here. I was told the card's USB cable is for data only and that the BT side of things gets its power from the PCI-e slot. I had to take this on trust as I don't know enough. For my latest card I had to adjust the mounting backplate quite significantly to get the card to sit in the slot properly. Once I'd done that a lot of problems disappeared.

2 months later and still the cutting off issue didn't stop. I tried to use all antenna sockets, same thing.
I stupidly made the mistake of buying from them again, this time their recommended "Bluetooth extender" but that thing is so small (the connectors at the end) I don't even know what to do with it.
1 day has gone by, zero response to my mails. Other people have complained as well.

I think the OP should be edited to reflect the fact OSXWifi sucks for customer support, they'll never respond to anything you say to them and basically you're on your own, if it works great, if it doesn't, $100+ down the drain.

At this point I wish I had bought something cheaper from some kid on his garage on China, would be basically the same thing.

I grabbed the complete package deal off Amazon, only issue is BT doesn't work. In console I see the below. Any ideas?

8/28/16 6:21:59.000 PM kernel[0]: **** [IOBluetoothFamily][SearchForTransportEventTimeOutHandler] -- Missing Bluetooth Controller Transport!
