Hi there,
  1. I am building my Hackintosh system and since I have Dell P2415Q monitor, I am looking for best option for run 4K@60. Refresh rate is very important to me because all of you should know working with refresh rate of 30 is sucks!
  2. I have searched and found out EVGA GTX 950 would be my best option and it is also budget friendly.
  3. Do you guys have any suggestion or experience with this card or any other better option?
Thanks very much,

If you're not afraid of used parts, I'd get a Kepler based Nvidia card (e.g. GTX 680, 760, 770, 780).
Those are considerably cheap and work 100% OOB without the need any additional drivers. All of them are faster than the 950 btw.

Otherwise the 950 is a good option.

I think it's a good card too, but how big of an issue is budget? For $30-40 more you can get the 960.

I don't wanna take some risk since I am building this hackintosh for my wife and I don't want any headaches!! Because I saw a list of compatible graphic cards and I didn't see any Kepler cards so I'm not sure if those cards are a good option and hassle free for my case! Are they fully compatible?

At this moment, I can purchase a EVGA GTX 950 SC for $170 CAD and Purchase a EVGA GTX 960 SSC for $220 CAD. I should add that I am living in Canada so the prices would be a little bit different from US.

The question is which card can give this hackintosh a 4K@60 resolution?

P.S. I just searched and realized that I can have a EVGA GTX 780 SC for around $220 CAD.

Compatibility-wise, Kepler-based cards are the best. You don't need to deal with any drivers as they run perfectly fine on Apples stock drivers.
The buyers guide only lists new Hardware, so Kepler has been dropped from the list. They still work perfectly fine though.

Up,

So what new about your configuration? I search to know if with this graphic card I will be able to use two 4K monitors not for gaming of course (mac user = hardcore worker). I also read this treat : http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2503519/dual-gpu.html

If this card (or another) is good will it work comfortably? I want avoid any overheat in the case since I decide to go with this one : https://www.ncases.com

Hi Florian,

Thanks for the info, when you say "Kepler-based cards" do you mean I can chose any of them? No matter which manufacturers it is (asus, zotac, msi, evga, etc) or which model it is (Ti, OC, SC, Enthusiasm Ed., etc.)?

Other request, there are 2 graphic cards included in the Buyer's Guide, do they need pilot since they are based on Kepler?

Thanks

The GTX 750 is Maxwell based, so it needs the WebDrivers.
Most currently available, low-end Kepler cards need WebDrivers, too.

All of those work without the WebDrivers: GTX 650, 660, 670, 680, 760, 770, 780.
The specific model doesn't matter, all will work.

What's the rest of the system like?, or will be like? In other words, it might match up to an i7 better than an i5. The GTX780 is a 250W, iirc, TDP card, using about 100W at idle. The card could get the PC a little warm, so make sure it's a nice air flow case. Probably not a concern if you're driving it from 140W XEONs, or you happen to live in cold weather.
