Yosemite on iMac (2006)

Hey guys,

I have a iMac5,1 and i have loaded a version of OS X Yosemite onto it using 64 x 32. however when the install has finished it is only showing 5mb of vram and the screen dose the whole black flicker thing.

any idea where i went wrong or what i can do to fix it?
 
While you may in fact be describing an iMac mod, this forum's spirit is in case modding rather than software modding. However, to answer your question, Yosemite will not properly run on your iMac5,1 as there are no drivers for your Radeon X1600 GPU. This is not fixable, and I would recommend sticking with Lion.

would it be possible to gut the iMac5 and put in a new motherboard, etc. i.e. hackintosh it?
