SMBIOS Broadwell

GeekBench shows both the board-id and the Mac model. The Mac model it shows may be based on the serial# or other data.
I'm sure it does. I've gotten hold of an actual board serial number for a MBP12,1 but it still shows up as 11,1. Must be my fake serial number or something. I did use the correct last four digits for my serial. Maybe the date if off in the center 5 digits.

Oh well. It works, that's what matters. Haven't tried to connect to iMessage yet.

FYI, I just tested this with a real serial and board ID (for testing purposes only of course) from a MBP12,1 and got the same results so have no clue what's going on.

It could have something to do with FakeSMC keys...

ah ok, that's good..

I think the key question remaining from me though is what does specifying this one (for example over a Mac Pro) actually do? I.e. does the definition 'unlock' specific things in the OS?

Although in addition, how do you generate a serial, and why? :)

In a similar vein, what does specifying a different BIOS typically do?

Cheers!

bonjour,

My laptop is E7250 too. would you please share your EFI docs? such as config.plist, dsdt.aml, kexts. Many Thanks. email:[email protected]

First use Clover Configurator's SMBios wizard to generate a SMBios for MacBookPro11,2; this will include a custom, unique serial (necessary for things like iMessage and Facetime, see post #6). After you have the 11,2 values, replace them with the 12,1 values from my previous post (leaving the modified 11,2 serial, obviously).

You're just trying to match the values of a real MacBookPro12,1. It looks like the 12,1 has had a bios update since release. The board-ID is the most important part as that controls what drivers the platformplugin loads (for post Sandy Bridge era Macs).
Hi,

I have Broadwell CPU and I think best MBP model for this laptop is MacBookPro12,1. I followed Clover Guide, picked the "config_HD5300_5500_6000.plist" and ended up MacBook Air6,2. I don't know if I should have edited the plist and change ProductName from Air to MacBookPro12,1 in the first place. Anyways after Sierra 10.12.4 installation completed I used Clover Configurator and followed your post #2 on this tread. Created serial with MacBookPro12,1 (not 11,2) and changed values with your quote like board ID and other stuff except the serial. After reboot About Mac shows MacBook Pro Retina 13-inch Early 2015. However on Finder and Bluetooth it still says *my name*'s Air.

1) Why that values still show Air in Finder and Bluetooth?
2) Why do you suggest creating serial with 11,2 instead of 12,1? What happens if I keep it like I did (created 12,1 and changed other values in the quote on post #2, and kept the created 12,1 serial as is)?

Also base frequency is at 1.30GHz in Intel Power Gadget even though I've applied [Guide] Native Power Management for Laptops, after applying this my fans stopped when I first run the laptop the next day and stayed off for awhile and started after I ran a few more apps with Safari. And GPU memory in About this Mac is at 1536. I guess something is wrong but what?

Ps: My ram was shown 4GB before Clover Configurator, even though I manually added them into the Clover config as 4+8. After applying SMBIOS changes, ram started shown correctly as 12GB.

Thanks

Read up on frequency vector edits for X86PlatformPlugin.

Thanks.

I used AppleIntelInfo.kext to read frequencies, here's the log. What do you think? It seems ok but my fan always running when using even Safari. In Win10 I was using Chrome and my battery lasts around 3 hours. If I use Edge for instance I can see 3.5 or 4H. Since this is Mac OS, shouldn't it last way longer than Windows? Especially with Safari?

I haven't applied GPU PM btw.

And what about GPU memory in about Mac? (Intel HD Graphics 5500 1536 MB)

Terminal still says *my name*'s Air. There should be somewhere to change all from Air to new SMBIOS MB Pro?

You need to quit Terminal and re-run it.
