Do you use iPhoto?

Just thought it'd be interesting to pose this question- do you use iPhoto? I find it to be pretty good- although I keep my photos on a separate drive, like music for iTunes. Not in the Home folder like Apple wants you to.

For any real stuff, I'll use Photoshop for image editing, but for general showing images on the TV, and flipping through photos and organizing, it's pretty cool in my opinion.

i keep the raw (or jpg) of my photos into a folder. i then import into iPhoto the jpg versions only (raw gets converted prior to import). i use iPhoto's slideshow, book & card design a lot. for simple touch-ups, i'll use iPhoto. for major ones (ie. printed on a photo printer), i'll do the editing in PS.

Nope! I have 1 folder with a total of 9 photos in it!
I think I can keep that organized.

I've been a photography buff since I was 16 (now mid fifties). I started digital photography at the back end of a telescope with a camera that looked like a metal brick with a fan in it. In other words, at a very basic level. Still having the restriction of using film in my mind, when I converted my land photography to digital, I now take hundreds of images when I used to take "two rolls" (36x2). Then end result is about 80 Gb worth (or more) of images accumulated over years, many scanned from old 35mm and 2.25x2.25" Kodachrome slides.

There is one tool which I prefer OVER Photoshop and that is Aperture. It is iPhoto on steroids and controls the printing process better than Photoshop in my opinion. Aperture's organizing abilities are uncanny and if you are a database guy it makes perfect sense. Since I got it two years ago, I haven't looked back.

If you get a chance to try it, do. It's an excellent tool. Apple did that one very right.

- iPhoto for browsing and uploading to mobileme gallery (testing it now, pretty cool, no need to convert the Canon .RAW files, it does it automatically).

- DPP (Canon Digital Photo Professional) and Photoshop for image post-processing.

I prefer using Aperture, it is much better in photo management and light editing works. For detail editing work, I would go for photoshop.

iphoto is really integrated into the os. Works really well.
I only use it to keep jpegs after i've finished editing them either in photoshop or lightroom 3. I shoot raw only. Nikon DSLRS.

Well i think iphoto is fantastic for viewing photographs, or showing it to friends and such. Plus in a snap you can embedded and resize pics to send by email, or even those printing services are pretty good.

Of course if you're into some semi-pro pics editing you'll be looking around for something else. But still i believe iPhoto is the best tool for simple photo managing and some basic editing.
