Hi,

I would like to know what frequency type I should be using for Yosemite for my i2500k (4 core)

Mavericks I had going 43 43 43 42
In Yosemite 42 42 42 41 seems to work. I tried auto and 43 43 43 42 but my computer was a slug.
I did try all 42's but didn't seem to work very well?! (Slower speeds)

I also have 1600mhz 16Gb Corsair Vengeance on a Z68X-UD3-B3. Any help with how to get those up to 1866mhz?

Thanks,

i have been having problems with overclocking as well on mavericks, i had a solid 4.3 overclock on my 4770K but not it doesnt seem to be liking that...

Just use ssdtPRGen [https://github.com/Piker-Alpha/ssdtPRGen.sh]

Put the file in user folder, open terminal and type:
Code:
chmod +x ssdtPRGen.sh
After that, type:
Code:
sudo ./ssdtPRGen.sh -h
to see the options.

In my case I used this options and I,m posting just as an EXAMPLE:

Code:
sudo ./ssdtPRGen.sh -c 1 -f 4300 -w 2 -b Mac-FC02E91DDD3FA6A4 -m iMac13,2 -turbo 6300

-c 1 = Ivy Bridge
-f 4300 = Overclocked frequency
-w 2 = p-states and c-states
-b option = Referer ID to iMac 13,2
-m option = Mac Model
-turbo 6300 = Generate turbo states in Ivy Bridge

Hope help somebody!

I have the 4690K overclocked to 4.4 GHz on all cores (Turbo disabled) but I can only boot with 4.3 GHz on all cores. What do I have to change? I tried all frequencies from 3590 (exact non Turbo freq) to 4490.

----There's nobody like me, who OC'ed and experienced boot probs with an multiplier bigger than 43?----

Did you ever get this figured out? I've never overclocked, but I have the same chip and would like to.

I'm running on the Gigabyte Z97N-WIFI with the same CPU, and my approach has been to just customize the turbo frequencies and Yosemite follows them perfectly.

My heatsink/fan is just stock and my case isn't very cool either so I'm set at 46, 45, 42, 40 with stable but very warm operation. Geekbench numbers confirm that I'm getting 4.6GHz on the single threaded tests.

Kind of related to above... really silly question no doubt; does overclocking (via BIOS I assume) for OSX require first software alteration to 'prepare' the OS (ssdtPRGen)? It has been 10 years at least since I last overclocked anything, that was winxp! I'm lost.

Currently trying to get to grips with underclocking an i5 750 on a DFI lanparty p55-36. Yosemite running great, but I need to reduce power consumption- see my mod here and you'll understand!

ps. I think it'd be really helpful if someone with the likes of your knowledge (overclocking hackintosh) could write a sticky on this forum to guide people around the subject.

Thanks for any thoughts you might have on that!

I agree! A tutorial would be great! I have a 4790k that is rock stable at 4.8ghz in windows (dual boot) but It keeps resetting the computer when I try to boot into OSX. It loads 4.4ghz fine and is stable in OSX, but I can't seem to get past 4.4ghz when booting osx. I see you guys referring to some software stuff that I dont understand and probably need help with...

Confused :)

I can boot 4.8GHz with a 4790K in Yosemite and Windows 8.1 and it is stable in both but, when the computer goes to sleep in Yosemite I loose all USB ports on wake until I reboot. The machine isn't frozen because I can VNC in with my phone and reboot. Would love to figure this out.
