Today Apple released 10.8.2, the second major update to OS X Mountain Lion. To eliminate any potential issues, we generally recommend to update any supported systems using the standalone combo installer available from Apple.com, and not the built-in Software Update.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast.

What we know about 10.8.2 so far...

  • 12.2.0 Darwin kernel
  • Facebook integration
  • Improved battery life for Mac laptops
  • Updated AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA graphics drivers
  • If you use customized or edited graphics kexts, it will be necessary to make the edits again using the new drivers as a base.
  • If you OpenCL Enabler, reapply it before reboot
  • If you've used the official 10.8.1 Nvidia drivers to fix glitchy Fermi cards, reapply the drivers before reboot
  • Updated audio drivers
  • You will have to reinstall the Patched AppleHDA using MultiBeast before rebooting.
  • If you use VoodooHDA, you will not need to make any modifications

10.8.2 Troubleshooting

  • If you use FakeSMC plugins, and get a kernel panic after reboot. Boot into safe mode by typing -x at the Chimera boot screen. Then navigate to /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/Plugins/ and delete OEMsmbios.kext. Then reboot.

There is also a Lion update /10.7.5/

From the 10.8.2 release notes, other improvements include:

- Messages and FaceTime receiving messages/calls sent to your iPhone's phone number (if your iPhone is running iOS 6) in addition to the way it already worked with email address.

- Reminders lists can now be shared.

- Dictation now supports Mandarin/Cantonese, Spanish, Korean, Italian, and Canadian English/French.

- SMB (Windows file sharing) improvements.

- Safari's smart search field now has support for SSL-enabled Google searching.

- Safari also now has the option to re-open previously open pages on re-launch.

- New option to discard changes in the original document when choosing "Save As" (so your changes only get saved to the new copy).

Plus a bunch of other stuff ;)

Successful update using built in updater. Config:

Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
Core i7 3770k
16GB DDR3 G-Skill Sniper 1866MHZ
GTX 560Ti AMP! 1GB
4X2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD RAID 10 Configuration
Tp-Link WDN 4800 Wifi PCI Express Card

LOST audio on Z77-DS3H and Ivy CPU. Everything else appears to be ok. Booted fine, and geek bench at 10,000 after update. (32 bit)

UPDATE: To get audio back on Z77-DS3H simply run multibeast and ONLY select ALC887/888B **CURRENT! Restart and then go into sound settings. Double click "Internal Speakers - Built In" under the output tab. Bingo AUDIO!

What about the new NVIDIA graphics drivers? Are the same of the NVidia site?

Thanks for audio, but I don't remember, for the drivers : with or without DSDT ?
