Today Apple released 10.10.3, the third major update to OS X Yosemite. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast created USB and type -f to boot without caches or -x to enter safe mode.

What we know about 10.10.3 so far...

  • OS X Build 14D131
  • Kernel updated to 14.3.0 Darwin kernel
  • New core OS X application: Photos
  • Includes initial support for Intel 5th generation 'Broadwell' CPUs
  • Includes initial support for Intel HD 5300, 6000, 6100 graphics
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
    • If you use patched or modified drivers, you will need to re-apply changes to the updated drivers.
    • NVIDIA Alternate Graphics Drivers have now been updated for 10.10.3
  • This update will replace your audio drivers.
    • If using Chimera/MultiBeast you will have to reinstall AppleHDA using MultiBeast before or after reboot
    • If you use Clover or VoodooHDA, you may not need to make any modifications
  • Storage drivers updated- TRIM patch must be reapplied
  • X99 kernel and chipset support still absent - Haswell-E and X99 temporary guide remains necessary.
  • Install OS X Yosemite App Updated - If you downloaded Yosemite from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. When the download finishes, the app will automatically open. The updated 10.10.3 Install OS X Yosemite App can be found in the Applications folder. You may then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.

OS X 10.10.3 Update [DRAFT]

Notes:
- This may break some of your Yosemite functions, like audio, TRIM and the nVidia Web drivers. So, being an Early Adopter is fraught with problems. Make sure you backup first. :thumbup:

- If you're using nVidia drivers for your GeForce GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, 980 and the Titans 'Maxwell' graphics cards, you'll need to install the nVidia 10.10.3 Web driver(s) after the 10.10.3 update. You are advised to wait for nVidia's update or use the nVidia Yosemite Beta Web drivers. tonymacx86 will publish the link to the nVidia Web Driver as soon as it's announced. See threads in the http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/ if you have one of these Maxwell graphics cards, such as:
GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, and 980 graphics cards.

Here's the step by step way to update for those who aren't using the nVidia Maxwell graphics cards :
:ch: Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: Download the latest MultiBeast for Yosemite;
:ch: Download the Software Update or the Combo Update and run it to update to 10.10.3;
:ch: Re-boot;
:ch: Run MultiBeast for Yosemite and just select your audio driver to install and, optionally, the 10.10.x TRIM patch;
:ch: Re-boot; and
:ch: Repair Permissions again.*

If you have TRIM enabled, check to see if it was affected by this update. Multibeast v7.2's TRIM patch may not work. If not, see tonymacx86's method in Post #55.

Please post help requests in the Yosemite Desktop Support Forum section (not in this thread) > http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-support/

* You can use the Terminal instead of Disk Utility if you feel comfortable with a UNIX command:
Code:
 sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

OSX 10.10.3 update is now avaliable!

Thanks! I will try and report if there is any issue.

A few notes:

1. MultiBeast users, we will be adding patched 10.10.3 AppleHDAs to the next version of MultiBeast. Likely we'll be releasing it in the next week. For now use MultiBeast 7.2 to reapply audio drivers.

2. 10.10.x TRIM patch from MultiBeast 7.2 doesn't work.

3. We will be releasing a new version of Chimera with Broadwell CPU and IGPU support soon. Stay tuned.

So it is definite that regardless of the new nVidia drivers included in 10.10.3 there is still no support for the GTX970 or GTX980?

Maxwell support is not included by default. The NVIDIA Alternate drivers remain necessary. If you have a Maxwell based card, it's best off to wait until NVIDIA updates drivers. Should be pretty quick.
