Today Apple released 10.10.2, the second major update to OS X Yosemite. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast created USB and type -f to boot without caches or -x to enter safe mode.

What we know about 10.10.2 so far...

  • OS X Build 14C109
  • Kernel updated to 14.1.0 Darwin kernel
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
  • This update will replace your audio drivers.
    • If using Chimera/MultiBeast you will have to reinstall AppleHDA using MultiBeast before or after reboot
    • If you use Clover or VoodooHDA, you may not need to make any modifications
  • Storage drivers updated - 10.10.x TRIM patch will need to be reapplied before or after reboot
  • X99 kernel and chipset support still absent - Haswell-E and X99 temporary guide remains necessary.
  • Install OS X Yosemite App Updated - If you downloaded Yosemite from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. When the download finishes, the app will automatically open. The updated 10.10.2 Install OS X Yosemite App can be found in the Applications folder. You may then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.
Testing is now underway- this post will be updated. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Report your results here.

OS X 10.10.2 Update (DRAFT)

Notes:
- This may break some of your Yosemite functions, like audio and TRIM. So, being an Early Adopter is fraught with problems. Make sure you backup first. :thumbup:

- The Combo Update is not working for a bunch of us. The Combo Update only works to update 10.10.0 to 10.10.2 which is different from past Combo Updaters. Either wait until Apple fixes it or use the Software Update from the App Store app to upgrade to 10.10.2.

- If you're using nVidia drivers for your GeForce GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, and/or 980 'Maxwell' graphics cards, you'll need to install the 10.10.2 driver(s) after the 10.10.2 update. See my Post here for the installation upgrade procedures for 10.10.2.

Here's the step by step way to update:
:ch: Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: Download the latest MultiBeast for Yosemite;
:ch: Download the Software Update or the Combo Update and run it to update to 10.10.2;
:ch: Re-boot;
:ch: Run MultiBeast for Yosemite and just select your audio driver to install and, optionally, the 10.10.x TRIM patch;
:ch: Re-boot; and
:ch: Repair Permissions again.*

If you have TRIM enabled, check to see if it was affected by this update.

Note: If you encounter no audio after wake-up from sleep, here are several methods to "fix" the issue; see http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/151504-no-audio-after-sleep-wake-realtek-alc-applehda-fixes.html. For posting audio problems, see http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/143752-no-audio-devices-realtek-alc-applehda-guide.html#post886726.

* You can use the Terminal instead of Disk Utility if you feel comfortable with a UNIX command:
Code:
 sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

Finally!

I just transitioned to Clover, so I'll finally get to see how smooth applying updates really is.

Wish they had resolved the driver issue where HDMI 2.0 on GTX 980 only outputs 4K(UHD) @ 30hz on the LG 49UB8500B. Maybe with next nvidia updated drivers... will keep waiting until apple itself adopts the new technology on one of the next machines. Which one should we wait for? Mac Pro, macbook pro?

Are you using Clover, or Chimera?

Good to go on the B85M and i3 4340 updating using the App Store. :) I re-enabled sound using KextUtility and the AppleHDA and HDAEnabler1 kexts from Mavericks.

The jury is still out as to whether it resolves the WiFi issues because the drop was random and rare. It will take some time for me to see whether or not the drop occurs again.

All I can say is "Wow!" I've got a level of stability that I haven't seen since Mountain Lion. WiFi definitely seems fixed.

2/4/15

WiFi drop not fixed. :( It's definitely better, but it's not there yet.
