I may have several problems for my GA-Z87x-UD5H running 10.9.5.
The overall one is I cannot get the high link speed [ac1200?] for the EW-7822UAC WiFi dongle.
All tests with dongle in rear port marked "USB 3.0".
I may have an underlying USB 3.0 problem.

My system sees my WiFi dongle as an 802.11n device[see system info grab].
System seems to see the dongle under USB 2.0 not 3.0.
I have been including the USB 3.0 kext in all past MultiBeast installs.
To settle question "Do I have USB3.0?" How can I best test for it?
If I don't have USB 3.0 what is possible fix?

I have no problem getting connected to a WiFi service[1200ac 5GHz] but think not getting an AC 5GHz connection. Wireless Network Utility says my LINK SPEED is only 173Mbps[I get same speed plugged into any USB port] I get good "Internet speeds" DL ~ 100Mbps, UL ~85Mbps. Connected to my Comcast Technicolor 105 Router I get only 144 Mbps link speed. Of course I no long use the Comcast connection.
Even if I only have USB 2.0 working I should get better Link Speeds[right?].

I downloaded this driver for 10.9 /10.8 from EDIMAX.
RTLWlanU_MacOS10.9_MacOS10.10_Driver_1827.4_UI
Did I get wrong driver for Hackintosh use? If so, where's correct driver for DL?

I have the same Edimax USB 3 AC dongle as you do. I get my downloads from this page which I've bookmarked: http://www.edimax.us/html/english/frames/b-download.htm On this page, the latest 10.10 driver is http://www.edimax.us/download/drive...cOS10.9_MacOS10.10_Driver_1827.4_UI_2.3.8.zip

But, when I do a Google search, I come up with this US page: http://us.edimax.com/edimax/downloa...ireless_adapters_ac1200_dual-band/ew-7822uac/ and it's a different driver!

Go figure. All I know is I've been using the 2.3.8 driver w/o a problem. For the Z68, make sure you're using the latest GenericUSBXHCI USB 3 driver: http://sourceforge.net/projects/genericusbxhci/files/ which is also located in MultiBeast for Yosemite v7.3 onward. It's easy to install from MultiBeast by just selecting the
Driver > Misc > USB 3.0 - Universal
driver.

Good luck!

Stork,
Thank you for the driver info.
I have a GA-Z87x-UD5H with a 4770k CPU.
Because I was only getting a link speed of 173Mbps when I expected around 400 because the Edimax EW-7822UAC is 1200AC, I thought

I EITHER had the wrong driver or
I wasn't actually getting USB 3.0 even though the ports are marked USB 3.0 AND they are designated as such in the User's Manual. I was guessing that if the EDIMAX dongle was in a non-USB 3.0 port it might not operate at full "speed". [Was my guess wrong?]

I will try the other drivers you suggested.

The USB section of SYSTEM INFORMATION says:
USB Device Tree
^USB 3.0 HI-SPEED BUS
MX860 series [my printer]
Hub [I don't understand why they list a HUB under the 3.0 section]
^Hub
^ Hub in Apple Keyboard [the keyboard has 3 ports]
Apple Pro Keyboard
802.11n NIC [the EDIMAX]
I used ^ to represent the inverted triangle that denote sub lists.

If I understand the sys info list my Edimax actually is in a 3.0 port. Maybe my understanding is incorrect?

...
According to the Newegg site's specifications
Max. Wi-Fi Speed Up To 300Mbps (2.4GHz) and 867Mbps (5GHz)
which sorta adds up to 1200. :D

STORK MANY THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Yes, for any reading of the standard I should be getting way more than 173 Mbps.

So my question now:
Does anybody using the EW-7822UAC get somewhere close to the expected link speeds of 300 Mbps if connection is 2.4GHz 208.11n and ~800 Mbps if connection is 208.11ac 5GHz?
I am testing with 10.9.5 Maverick. I think I have the best drivers too.

I am using latest GenericUSBXHCI USB 3 version 1.2.7 kext
and my Wireless Network Utility is version 2.3.8

Is there another toolI can/should use to see what the link speed is other than "Wireless Network Utility"
which is a Realtek RTL8192S USB 802.11B/G/N 300M Wireless NIC tool ?

With all the discussion about how to connect to a Hackintosh via WiFi
there should be many others who can help me with their experiences
about how they got reasonable link speeds and their suggestions of
things I need to verify/modify.

Remove the GenericUSBXHCI.kext as you don't need it and should not use it for 7/8/9-series motherboards.

I did a test recently with a USB 3 HDD and the GenericUSBXHCI.kext actually kept the USB 3 ports from operating at full speed. It may also cause freezing on the 7/8/9-series motherboards.

Remove it from /System/Library/Extensions/, and, in the Terminal, execute the following command:
Code:
sudo touch /System/Library/Extension
Then reboot.
