*Problem*
For a number of MIDI users, it has been necessary to disable USB3 in the BIOS in order to make MIDI cleanly and consistently available to full functionality.

Users have reported programs (such as OSX's default Audio MIDI Setup Program, Logic, Live, etc) not finding MIDI devices (both MIDI instruments and MIDI interfaces such as the Unitor 8 and MOTU Micro Lite).

MIDI can sometimes be partially or fully restored by disabling USB3, but results have been uneven. Most of the time, default OSX or vendor drivers work once MIDI is restored.

*Proposed Solution*
I messaged Zenith432 regarding his USB3 driver which seems to come with MultiBeast. He replied that he no longer works on the project.

My suggestion is that an updated USB3 driver be included with the next update of MultiBeast -- if possible, a driver whose developer is committed to ongoing support for the project and who may be made aware of future issues if any.

*Importance*
Very close to 100% of electronic musicians, amateur GarageBand producers to professional studio entrepreneurs, either need or expect to be able to use MIDI via USB with their computers. This entire user base should not have to hobble the I/O of our computers in order to enable core workflow functionality.

The USB 3 drivers in MultiBeast are typically only required for 6 Series and earlier motherboards. 7 Series and later have native USB3 support in OS X.

=======

MIDI and USB 3.0 currently working in OSX 10.9.4 having used Multibeast 6+.

xCHI mode set to Auto. GA-z77x-Ud5h running most up to date BIOS, f15q.

*qualification: still NOT working with Unitor8, the older a/c adaptor powered 8 port midi hub. Despite the emagic Unitor drivers being long since proprietary to Apple and included as an auto-detected download through App Store software update, it is still not detected in Hackintosh Audio/MIDI software, even while the Unitor still works fine with my MacBook Pro. But everything is working with MOTU micro lite, the more recent usb-powered 5 port midi hub, as well as other direct input USB controllers such as Akai MPK mini and M-audio Keystation Pro 88. Why one midi hub should work and the other not is beyond me.

I hope this helps someone out there. Cheers.

Hey I'm having the same problem after my upgrade to yosemite. I don't think my problem is usb 3.0 though. It would be nice if you can help me fix it. I've deleted all the drivers that are old and wouldnt work with yosemite but that did not work. Any help would be much thanks.

bumping this subject.
has anyone been able to make the unitor8 work in sierra?
