*Problem*
For a number of MIDI users, it has been necessary to disable USB3 in the BIOS in order to make MIDI cleanly and consistently available to full functionality.
Users have reported programs (such as OSX's default Audio MIDI Setup Program, Logic, Live, etc) not finding MIDI devices (both MIDI instruments and MIDI interfaces such as the Unitor 8 and MOTU Micro Lite).
MIDI can sometimes be partially or fully restored by disabling USB3, but results have been uneven. Most of the time, default OSX or vendor drivers work once MIDI is restored.
*Proposed Solution*
I messaged Zenith432 regarding his USB3 driver which seems to come with MultiBeast. He replied that he no longer works on the project.
My suggestion is that an updated USB3 driver be included with the next update of MultiBeast -- if possible, a driver whose developer is committed to ongoing support for the project and who may be made aware of future issues if any.
*Importance*
Very close to 100% of electronic musicians, amateur GarageBand producers to professional studio entrepreneurs, either need or expect to be able to use MIDI via USB with their computers. This entire user base should not have to hobble the I/O of our computers in order to enable core workflow functionality.
