Hi all, I have started getting regular, but not predictable hangs in the e1000 (hnak) driver since upgrading to 10.8.5 and Multibeast 5.5.0 and 5.5.1, and 5.5.2. The symptom is that no packets are received or sent.

I have the Q77M-D2H motherboard, and am using only the onboard ethernet - the console message I am getting from the kernel is:

failed to getphysicalsegment in outputPacket

Which is a string only in the e1000 hnak driver - I also note that there have been several updates in the e1000 driver over the 5.5.* development process.

This doesn't appear to be load related, and cannot be cured except by shutdown and restart of the system (reboot).

Has anyone else noticed similar problems? Is there a known cure/workaround?

Cheers!

Install the e1000 kext using MB 5.4.3, kext (ver.2.4.14). I've had multiple issues with each version past this...

I am having the exact same situation with this driver on GA-Z77X-UP5 setup. Have not had time to look into this but thinking of downgrading as to older version of multibeast as was running solid until this upgrade.

Thanks for that - I thought I was having hardware failure, but after getting similar with the onboard network and two other network cards, I think this is a genuine problem.

I worked a while ago with the 10gig ethernet intel drivers (the e1000 drivers are ver very similar in ways), and as far as I can recall, this symptom can be caused by a descriptor ring screw up (lost pointer) or lost interrupt: There's actually a difference between the interrupt register behaviours documented and the actual behaviour - (there's a shadow set of registers) one of them is clear on read, and the other doesn't work.... like I say, a long time ago, but the symptoms were damned similar....

I'll have a poke and see what i can find....

Cheers!
