Hi,

I'm trying to build my first Hackintosh (see config on the left). For the moment, Yosemite doesn't work fine (very slow) but I suspect it's because of my screen is VGA, so incompatible. I'll try a new screen when I'llo find it...

I've partitionned my 1TO HDD like this :

  • 200Go for Yosemite (HFS+ journalised)
  • 80Go for Ubuntu 14.04 (ext4)
  • 720GO for Documents (HFS+ journalised)

I'll try to unjournalise "Documents" to have a compatible disk for Yosemite & Ubuntu.

But for the moment, Chimera can't see my Ubuntu partition. I've tried to set with Ubuntu in Terminal : "sudo grub-install /dev/sda2" and it seems to work, but Chimera still can't see my Ubuntu partition.

When I ask Terminal for "sudo fdisk -l", it says :
Attention : identifiant de table de partitions GPT (GUID) détecté sur « /dev/sda » ! L'utilitaire fdisk ne prend pas GPT en charge. Utilisez GNU Parted.

    Disk /dev/sda: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes
    255 têtes, 63 secteurs/piste, 121601 cylindres, total 1953525168 secteurs
    Unités = secteurs de 1 * 512 = 512 octets
    Taille de secteur (logique / physique) : 512 octets / 4096 octets
    taille d'E/S (minimale / optimale) : 4096 octets / 4096 octets
    Identifiant de disque : 0x00000000

Périphérique Amorçage Début Fin Blocs Id. Système
    /dev/sda1 1 1953525167 976762583+ ee GPT
La partition 1 ne commence pas sur une frontière de cylindre physique.
    /dev/sda2 * 0 0 0 0 Vide

    o_OSorry : my hackintosh speaks french ;-)

I think the problem is I formatted the HDD with GUID table.
Could I remedy to my problem without reformatting and reinstalling everything (it takes a little time to do !) ?
Else, could Yosemite boot correctly from a MBR table ?

    Thanks for your help

  • To boot Ubuntu with Chimera you need to sync the drive with gptsync

Thanks... but how to ? I'm really novice  Gptsync is an ubuntu application or is it accessibe by terminal ?
I'm searching for informations on forums but I don't understand everything. So I think I forvige some important steps...

For the moment, trying to enable in reading/writing my Documents partition for Ubuntu, I couln't boot anymore with Yosemite and Ubuntu just enabled "invited" sessions !
So, i'm reinstalling everything, allowing a new 8Go partition for Ubuntu swap.

The thing to remember is that Chimera cannot boot a UEFI installed Ubuntu, so you need gptsync to create the hybrid UEFI/MBR to be able to boot a Linux distro installed in legacy mode. You could follow this guide - http://www.tonymacx86.com/snow-leop...multibooting-novice-updated-3-12-see-log.html where it applies to your situation, substituting UniBeast and Yosemite install for the iBoot and Snow Leopard part and skipping the Windows section.

YEAH ! It's OK for dual-boot with Yosemite & Linux.

I've done :
Formatting disk with GUID theme :
200Go for Yosemite (HFS+)
60Go for Ubuntu (ext4)
8Go for swap (swap)
720Go for Documents (HFS+)
I've external disk for saves, in HFS+ too

I've installed Yosemite with Unibeast & Multibeast, with PCIRootUID=1 boot flag. After Multibeast post-install, I'd to repair the boot0error, following the guide.

After I installed Ubuntu 14.04. What I forgot on first install was :
IMPORTANT! You will want to pay special attention to the ‘Device for boot loader installation’. Change it to the same ext4 partition we used in steps 8, 9 & 10. This will cause grub2 to be installed on the Ubuntu partition and won’t interfere with the Chimera boot loader already installed. Again, in my case, it is /dev/sda7.

It works without anything else !!!

BUT
Ubuntu is still unable to write on my Documents partition or on the external disk.

How could I repair these permissions ?

I won !!!!
So in OS X, use this method to disable journal of the partitions. After, read informations of the concerned disks and give permission to everybody in reading/writing.

When I ask Ubuntu about permissions, it still says : "you aren't proprietor of this element, you can't change permissions"
But it can read and edit the volumes
