Hello,

I recently built a hackintosh and wanted to run Windows 10(dev preview) so i tried and realized I had to start from scratch. So I did and I installed Yosemite without Chimera, and then partitionedmy SSD into two equal parts (119.52gb), named Yosemite and WINDOWS, both in the GPT format. I tried to install Windows with my Windows loaded 8gb USB and it did not work. When I click on the 111.3gb (the largest one) it says "Windows cant be installed on drive 0 partition 4." When i click on those words this comes up-

"Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS.

Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition is of an unregognized type."

The "Format" option is also grayed out. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am kind of new to this so it would be great if you could explain simply.

Thanks!:D

Try deleting that partition in the Windows 10 installer, then create a new partition from the free space that is created. You should then be able to format it as NTFS.

I tried what you said and it wouldnot work. I don't remmeber what it said because I can't get to the Windows 10 launcher any more. When I go to select a boot device the UEFI version of the usb is no longer avaliable. Only the normal version is a avaliable and when I boot into it says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key."

Thanks

Format the Windows partition MSDOS FAT if you are trying to install on an OS X drive formatted GUID and using Chimera/Chameleon as your boot loader.

Stilll did not work.

I have two partitions, the first named Yosemite and the second WINDOWS. The Windows partition was formatted in DOS FAT and the Yosemite the normal journaled or something like that. The boot devices are still the same. Here they are:

UEFI: KINGSTON SV300S37A240G
PO: KINGSTON SV300S37A240G
UEFI: KINGSTON SV300S37A240G
Lexar USB Flash Drive 1100
Enter Setup

They all boot into Yosemite, even the flash drive.

Thanks

Update: Yosemite says it cannot read the flashdrive at all. Still shows up at boot options.

The Windows partition was formatted in DOS FAT

Is it GUID + DOS FAT? I think it defaults to MBR not GUID. Once you start the installation, reformat with the windows installer.

Also, you are using the legacy P0: not the UEFI P0: correct?
