I just bought this laptop after my macbook pro died, and I'm having some issues trying to dual boot mountain lion and windows 8. I have windows 8 pre installed as UEFI and I don't have a CD for it/unsure how to make one. Is it possible to install os X as non uefi and just switch the bios settings when I want to boot windows or how should I go about doin g this? My other dilemma is I cant even get the OS X installer to start I've tried various commands like -v -x and some others I found here that I can't remember off hand and it just gets stuck on Waiting for root device.

Specs
RealtekHD Audio
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Nvidia GeForce GT630M
Intel 7 Series chipset family SATA AHCI controller
Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230
Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU

Also while I do have a fair bit of computer knowledge I am pretty new to this :p

It is best to just re-install Win8 (non-UEFI mode) so you can use Chimera to boot it. You should be able to download Win8 ISO (digitalriver official downloads) and re-install using the product key printed on the laptop. I've only done that with Win7, so I can't vouch for the possibility of doing it on Win8. But I would think it is possible for all the people who want a 'crap free' install of Win8 and prefer to just re-install from scratch first thing.

As far as 'still waiting for root...' It probably means you're using a USB3 port and there are no drivers in the default Unibeast USB setup. You need to download GenericUSBXHCI.kext and place it in the USB's /Extra/Extensions directory, or use a USB2 port if the laptop has it.

Also, your laptop probably has Optimus switching, which you will need to disable in BIOS (using only HD4K... if you can). And your WiFi will not work... you'll have to look at replacing it with a compatible card.

Alright, Thanks a lot, my laptop only has USB 3.0 so I guess that was the issue. Sucks about the wifi though, I dont really need it I only need OS X for video editing and stuff.

I am not able also to install OS X on a P850-31M. I have also try disabling USB3 and does not work. Did you arrive to install it?
Thanks!!

Thanks So Much RehabMan,
I have successfully installed OSX Yosemite on my Toshiba P850 - PSPKFC -Oc4004

i used a separate HDD for OSX and my original HDD still running windows, and i wanna keep it like this. (I will add my laptop Specs in my signature)
i I know i should make a new post about it to make use of it for people who are installing in similar laptop. (1: Please assist me where to open this for to get the most benefits of it)
i wish i can know why Toshiba laptops are not having any support for as Hackintosh i search too much but not find anything :( ,

anyway

  • in brief i used Unibeast to make the USB installer,(added the GenericUSBXHCI.kext and fixed permitions to make it work cuz i have no USB 2.0)
  • changed bios settings from UEFI to CSM (and other basic changes for hackintosh)
  • installed then booted into OSX (fixed some issues like touchpad/keyboard not working etc..) but all working now with some issues i wanna discuss now
  • Ended up in most basic things working but not the WIFi so im using external dongle for now

I installed first Mulibeast with basic setup, no DSDT, cuz i'm still not pro and didn't use DSDT before.

but i hade some problems i thought DSDT will solve it so i decided to use it

i found one DSDT to a similar laptop to mine (similar hardware) so i tried it and it worked with no errors just it still didn't fixed my problems and i'm trying to edit it but still i believe i should Extract my own Clean DSDT and patch it myself to make sure that not some extra things in the DSDT file i got making this problems. 2: Do you advice me to Start with Clean DSDT?

Problems i still have is:

  1. Some times when i reboot My Intel HD4000 load only as 4mb VRAM (Before and after DSDT Use) this leads to:
    1. slow system
    2. i see 2 displays in settings!!! one screen and one projector (as if im connecting projector too)
    3. Brightness 100% (same as windows)
    4. no brightness slidercontroller
    5. low resolution
  2. Other times i reboot with Intel HD4000 1024 VRAM which make the system:
    1. Fast
    2. Stable
    3. good resolution
    4. with brightness slider and working fine BUT even when 100% the brightness still 70% of the high brightness on windows! and 0% make screen black i tried many things including DSDT edits and adding kexts with no success
  3. Can i Make only the Bluetooth work even if the original Wireless would not work on hackintosh.
  4. If i click sleep .. the laptop wont wake up again, or maybe woke up with brightness 0% totally black
  5. Audio driver working but if i use headphone it doesn't automatically switch to headphone jack, i should manually do it so it work.
  6. My Touchpad is working fine as speed and click or multitouch but so much annoying Pressure sensitivity even before touching the pad by 1 mm it start moving and make it inaccurate at all for clicking or impossible for double-clicking

i believe all of this issues could be fixed and this laptop is really good for hackintosh but just need some support

Thank You So Much
Appreciate your help on this late post

Post in the appropriate laptop forum.

...2: Do you advice me to Start with Clean DSDT?

Using a DSDT from another computer is a bad idea. Patch your own.

Problems i still have is:

[*]Some times when i reboot My Intel HD4000 load only as 4mb VRAM (Before and after DSDT Use) this leads to:
  1. slow system
  2. i see 2 displays in settings!!! one screen and one projector (as if im connecting projector too)

Check system.log for errors.

  2. Stable
  3. good resolution

HD3000/HD4000 Brightness Fix:
DSDT Patches from here: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch

Apply:
"Rename GFX0 to IGPU"
"Brightness Fix (HD3000/HD4000)"
- rename patch must be done first and to all DSDT/SSDT that contain references to GFX0 that you're including in your final SSDT set
- Brightness patch must be done to the DSDT or SSDT that contains the definition for Device GFX0 (search for 'Device (GFX0)'
- Place DSDT and SSDT (if necessary) into a place where the bootloader will load them. For Clover, EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched (DSDT.aml, SSDT-x.aml where 'x' is a number). For Chameleon, /Extra/ssdt.aml, /Exra/ssdt-1.aml, /Extra/ssdt-2.aml, etc.

Install: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-ACPI-Backlight

[*]Can i Make only the Bluetooth work even if the original Wireless would not work on hackintosh.

If the BT was on the WiFi card (that you replaced?), then not really as it is is not installed...

[*]If i click sleep .. the laptop wont wake up again, or maybe woke up with brightness 0% totally black

http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-...nagement-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-laptops.html

[*]Audio driver working but if i use headphone it doesn't automatically switch to headphone jack, i should manually do it so it work.

What are you using for audio?

[*]My Touchpad is working fine as speed and click or multitouch but so much annoying Pressure sensitivity even before touching the pad by 1 mm it start moving and make it inaccurate at all for clicking or impossible for double-clicking

I didnt replace my Wireless card .. i just used USB wireless so can i use the bluetooth from the other Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230

Which touchpad is installed in your laptop?
it is Synaptic TouchPad, and im using ps2/keyboard mice and trackpads from multibeast to make it work.

What are you using for audio?
My Audio is Realtek High Definition Audio (dunno where to get more details now i'm at work) and im using voodooHDA 2.8.2 driver

Thanks Again For Support

No problem here.

You can view it from Console.app.

What do you mean by "Do i need the SSDT"?

I didnt replace my Wireless card .. i just used USB wireless so can i use the bluetooth from the other Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230

Maybe. Personally, I don't use BT.

it is Synaptic TouchPad, and im using ps2/keyboard mice and trackpads from multibeast to make it work.

Adjust FingerZ in the trackpad kext Info.plist.

My Audio is Realtek High Definition Audio (dunno where to get more details now i'm at work) and im using voodooHDA 2.8.2 driver

Audio: Best result with patched AppleHDA. Google 'patch AppleHDA guide'. Search for suitable AppleHDA or patch it yourself. Apply appropriate DSDT patches.

DSDT patches you need for AppleHDA: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch
Apply: "Audio Layout 12" (change layout-id from 12 to the layout-id used by the patched AppleHDA)
Apply: "IRQ Fix"

Determine layout-id from patched AppleHDA.kext:

First you need to know your codec id in decimal. Then look in the Info.plist for AppleHDAHardwareConfigDriver.kext (in PlugIns), find your codec id under HDAConfigDefault (there may be many entries in a sloppy patched AppleHDA or only one). The LayoutID that matches your codec id is the layout id you need.

Man Im so happy to say that my touchpad now working as i wish i searched too much about it and now one know the answer so you are right its just changing FingerZ sold it

and regarding the brightness also I'm happy to say that something worked but still not 100%,
1st i removed the old manual patches to DSDT
  1. adding name under GFX0 'LCD1234' which is the old method i tried
  2. removed the existing PNLF Device
  3. removed the genericBrigtness.kext

Applied your new method and restarted and i got the brightness back 100% as windows which is so great but the problem that the brightness slider not working whatever i put it low high it slides but nothing changes on screen brightness it keep high

here i remembered i used an old script i think also by you named brightnessFix.plist which make brightness go to 100% on startup
I uninstalled this script and rebooted now the brightness again feels 70% and the slider not controlling it
( the good thing is that I'm sure now if the slider control it it will go to 100% like in windows not as before)

what do you suggest now?

notes: I'm using DSDT ... so this is the only file which i patched it .. i didn't patch any SSDT file since I'm not using it and as i said before I'm still confused what is SSDT !!

Thank You Man

Ill post another reply regarding the Audio and Log Files result
