Lenovo Ideapad Y500

I just bought this laptop:

Lenovo Ideapad Y500
Ivy bridge Chipset
3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT650M 2GB

Anybody had experience installing Moutain Lion on one of those?

Just got mine. I'll be giving it a go soon. Looks like graphics will run smoothly out of the box (but I doubt SLI will). Wifi, power management, and audio are necessities on my list. Any luck with yours?

I haven't been successful at all so far.
I get a black screen during boot and the laptop power goes off.

I'll try to post more infos if I manage to capture what happens during boot...

I'm having a similar experience. Apple logo, then black screen, high speed fan, then power is off. Tried GraphicsEnabler=No, -x (Safe Mode). I'm not finding logs and Verbose runs the messages too quickly
Got it on camera finally with my dslr lol Took me about 6 tries before I could get the whole message -__- Aaaand it doesn't even look like anything is wrong!

Seems I'm the third one with Y500.

I got same result as you do . I have tried setting the smbios.plist to "MacBook Pro 10,1" (which is MBP 15' with Retina display, GT650M)

still no luck....

Y500 is a great laptop for the $$.... I have decided to keep it even if it's impossible to hack it.

I was doing some research and I tried a handful of solutions and finally landed on something that explains our problem but means that it isn't fixable without modifying the installer. Whelp, it looks like our lovely Y500s do not agree with the Mountain Lion Kernel!

It makes sense with the exact same problems we've encountered... I may try to install Snow Leopard and Lion (in that order) just to see the latest version of OS X this thing will support before I delve into this any further. I'd really like to be able to answer the question of why we can't install ML

Also, any chance any of you got the model with the DVD or Blu-ray Drive instead of the SLI card?? The SLI card model cost me an arm and a leg...

I do have the combo drive in mine instead of the extra GFX.

Have you (or anybody) had luck with this laptop yet? I should get mine today and I plan to try to get OS X on there somehow. For what it's worth, I got the dual GPU model too.

Let me know! And I'll keep you posted on any progress that I make.

Just wanted to bump this thread. I'm looking at this laptop due to its low price compared to a comparable real MacBook Pro! Thanks for any advice in advance.
