Lenovo U510 running OSX (Chameleon Wizard settings for org.chameleon.boot.plist

The specs for the machine I have are Core i7 3517U, 8GB, 750 GB HD, 24 GB SSD, 15.6" 1366x768 screen (wish it was better), HD4000 graphics (no NVidia as I decided to save 100 after reading the reviews that NVs 625 may only be margianally better than HD4000).

Earlier I had managed to install the OSX on the machine (method not so good and involved too many hacks). Then I decided to start over and use tried and tested method of installing OSX on an external drive via existing hackintosh.

The earlier hacks had trashed the one key recovery partition and I was barely able to restore win 8 from backup dvds I made earlier. Anyways, I am currently stuck at AppleIntelPower... throwing KPs. I had resolved this same error by deleting three kexts but for the life of it, I cant recall which ones (the deletion also had solved EHCI .... waiting for root problem).

Can anyone please help identify the three kexts I need to Delete. Thanks in advance.

Edited: 2/5/13. Install process finally figured. See post 10.
Edited: 2/10/13 Sound finally working.

Hi, I am going to buy LENOVO U510 (i7-3517U 1,9 - 3,0 GHz, 500GB + 24 GB SSD, RAM 8G 1600 Mhz, NVIDIA® GeForce with CUDA® 625M 1GB, OS Microsoft® Windows® 8 64 bit) Do you have your OSX on this model fully installed already? What did you had to use? And what is/isn´t working on your laptop? And 625M is not supported?, so it have to be disabled or what? And is it disabled in OSX only, or in WIN 8 too? Thanks for your reply.
Cheers K.

I did an install after days of hacking using Unibeast USB, Clover + unibeast, and many more. Nothing worked except i got to desktop. (No USB, no wifi (intel wifi card is not supported), sound worked with Voodoo kexts). I couldn't get the HD4000 to work properly either.

I do not have 625m. From what I hear it does not work with 10.8.2

I trashed my install and decided to start a new installing OSX on usb through my main mackintosh. So far I am stuck on "Waiting for Root Device" error and am unable to find a solution. Still researching.

U510, in itself is a great machine but I think turning it to a working hackintosh requires a lot. I will eventually make it work. Intel Centrino Wifi will never work so already planning on replacing the BT + wifi card.

Lenovo U510 Hackbook ML Install

Initial success on installing Mountain Lion.
Following works:
- Camera (Detected on USB 3 port), did not work on last install
- Bluetooth, did not work on my last install
- I know audio worked on my last install so I will make it work this time around as well
- Trackpad as mouse
- Keyboard :D

Following does not work:
- Wifi (I don't expect it to work either)
- Ethernet (I think it will work with some tinkering)
- All USB ports (didn't work on last install as well). But system information shows USB devices High speed and super speed and also Camera on USB port works. This was a major reason to finding correct way of install without too many hacks. Will take time and work I believe.
- QE/CI Acceleration

A lot of work ahead. Weird problem is that i7 is detected but shows as 1 core 2 threads. Mouse movement is fluid but things choke up if too many windows are open. Without proper usb or wifi, the system is near useless for now. Any help in enabling usb device recognition would be highly appreciated. Also troubleshooting with 1 core 2 threads of i7.

Here is what I did in this install.
1 used existing Hackintosh, unibeast and external Hard disk drive to install ML
2 used Multibeast to install basic kexts for enabling mouse and keyboard on laptop, sata third party drivers, trim for ML, null cpu and other power management kexts, chimera on external HDD.
3. used extreme hacked usb to get to ML installer on U510 and restored the external install onto ssd.
-- I had this USB created with weeks of trials and too many useful or useless kexts on it (still could not get the install done through it as was unable to load installed os no matter what I tried except once nut something I did trashed my partitions).
-- Basics were Unibeast USB, Chameleon installed on it and then to top it off, Clover install. Afterwords, whatever I read on internet for EHCI, waiting for root device and PCI KPs, I installed on it). Still the only way it gets to install screen is if, through windows, I use diskpart and clean the SSD. If there is a partition on SSD, MBR or GPT, I get stuck on waiting for root device)
4. SMBios set to MacBook Pro 8,1

Now at least have a basic procedure for reinstalls as many will be needed while trying to fix things.

So next steps, in order of my priority:
- Fix sound perhaps voodoo as last install or perhaps the realtek audio kexts. will try realtek first. Wish multibeast had a built in un-installer as well so if one thing didn't worked, we could uninstall and then try something else :D
- Fix trackpad and gesture recognition (There is some work available in this area)
- Figure out how to fix i7 recognition of 2 cores, 4 threads
- Figure out how to fix QE/CI
- and last but not least, figure out how to fix USB device recognition.

Thanks for reading and any clues, hints or suggestions are highly appreciated, specially in relation to proper i7 recognition.

Thank for your reply, do you think I have better chances to install OSX on U410? because I am little worried abou hackintosh with U510. I am a newbie and I am not English native speaker, so It's difficult to me... It would be Intel Core i7-3517U (1.9GHz, TB 3.0GHz, Hyperthreading); 8GB RAM (DDR3); 14" LED HD (1366x768 bodů), NVIDIA GeForce 610M (1GB); 1TB HDD + 24GB SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4x USB (2x 3.0), Windows 8.
Thanks K.

Well I posted a some links yesterday but I guess it did not go through properly. Anyways, in my opinion you have an equal chance with U410 and U510 to a working hackbook. As there are difference in the U410 you are looking into and the one here at tony macs blog, you probably should not use the same DSDT. However making one is not a big problem either. If you wish to take the easy route then google best hackintosh and look into some results. Search this site for U410 Lenovo as well. There is good info all around. Good luck with your project. Don't forget, there is help available in this blog and from the members.

:headbang:So I got USB fixed by deleting AppleUSBEHCI kext from IOUSBFamily Kext. QE/CI works by EFI injection
ig-platform-id: 01660003 in org.chameleon.boot.plist for now. Later i intend to implement through DSDT.

Camera, Bluetooth and Card Reader detected on USB 2 bus. (Deleting
AppleUSBEHCI kext took away the USB 3 speeds).

Weird behavior: 1 inserting USB 3 External HDD in USB 3 port hangs the system but if the HDD is inserted before boot it works at USB 2 speeds.

Remaining steps - There in an experimental kext for Intel 2230 (wifi) kext but am unable to find it. If I do, I would prefer to give it a whole hearted try. Find a proper Sound Kext, Card Reader enabling, making the Synaptics touch pad in multi touch mode, sleep, awake and lid to work with power management.

One major problem still remains though. The install process needs serious revisit to post so other users can follow. I have tried 10 times to create a install starter usb with steps written down and so far every attempted usb has failed except the one i hacked one month earlier. So far i use the usb created earlier with usb hdd that i installed OSX on through another hackintosh.

Also noticed Mountain Lion: Native Ivy Bridge CPU and GPU Power Management. I will give this a try in a couple of days.

Ok, got ethernet to be recognized by using ApplRTL8169Ethernet Kext.
Wifi intel 2230 still exploring. Replaced DWA 121 with DWA 131 and it works.
Next up, Sound.

Initial install process nailed.
- Unibeast USB (Laptop support)
- Google how to unhide files and unhide all files in usb
- In finder, navigate to Extra, open org.chameleon.Boot.plist, edit using Chameleon wizard
- Check UHCI and EHCI, Force HPET, Graphics mode 1366x768, if you have EFI string, paste in device properties. Save.
- In finder, locate SMBios.plist and open with chameleon wizard
- Edit settings to MacbookPro 10,1. Save.

- Locate system/library/extensions directory, locate IOUSBFamily.kext, and delete AppleUSBXHCI.kext

I am not sure why i used so mach adding of kexts through multibeast and dont really know how made the original installer work a few weeks ago but finally step by step experimentation revealed the above steps. :).

Post install multibeast steps in a letter post.
