Have some time off, so I am determined to get this machine working. Followed this guide for a clean install adapted to my system:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-...de-gigabyte-ga-z77-ds3h-evga-gtx-650-2gb.html

Hardware

Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H (Rev 1.1, F9)
Intel i5-3570K
HD4000 Internal Graphics
RAM - 16Gb (2 x 8Gb) Crucial 1600MHz
HD - SATA Toshiba 2TB (2 Partitions, 1 Test, 1 Run)
Corsair CX500M Power Supply
Corsair Carbide 300R Case

Software

UniBeast
Mac OS X 10.8.3
MultiBeast 5.3

Step 1 - Configure the motherboards BIOS (F9)

1. Connect your monitor to the motherboards DVI port.
2. Turn on the machine and use the Delete key to enter the BIOS.
3. Load Optimized Defaults.

MIT / Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.) = Profile1
BIOS Features / Intel Virtualization Technology = Disabled

******** BIOS Features / VT-d = Disabled (could not find in the BIOS settings??)

Peripherals / SATA Mode Selection = AHCI
Peripherals / xHCI Hand-off = Enabled
Peripherals / EHCI Hand-off = Enabled

4. Save and Reset.

Step 2

1. Turn on the computer.
2. Hit F12 to select the boot device.
3. Select your USB drive (UniBeast).
4. At the UniBeast page type the -x boot flag.
5. Use Disk Utility to prepare your drive.
6. Install the OS.
7. Click Restart or wait for the computer to automatically reboot.

Note: the screen may go to sleep during the OS install process and will display the mouse pointer on a white screen. To get back to the install screen just hit the space bar.

Step 3

1. Hit F12 to select the boot device.
2. Select your boot drive and type the -x boot flag.
3. Set up your OS (you can skip most of the screens).
4. Sign-in using your password.
4. Download MultiBeast (your Ethernet port should be working).
5. Run MultiBeast.

Note: you may have to allow the MultiBeast application to run by changing the settings in the Security & Privacy control panel found in the System Preferences.

5. Select

MultiBeast / UserDSDT or DSDT -Free
MultiBeast / Drivers & Bootloaders / Drivers / Audio / Realtek ALC8xx / Without DSDT / ALC887/888b / v100302 Current
MultiBeast / Drivers & Bootloaders / Drivers / Network / Atheros - Shailua's ALXEthernet

Important: don't select everything at once, go very slowly.
Note: you do not need a DSDT with the GA-Z77-DS3H motherboard.

4. Click Continue to install.
5. Authenticate.
6. Quit MultiBeast.
7. Shut Down.
8. Remove the USB key (UniBeast).

Step 4

Try to boot, but HD 2TB too big and have to boot with USB Installer and do the following guide:

See http://www.tonymacx86.com/25-boot0-e...ial-guide.html

  1. Shut Down
  2. Remove the USB key (Unibeast)
  3. Start up from HD with the -v boot flag and get the following:

Boot1.jpg

Please help me get this machine working! What next?

Ok..we have the same hardware and I have three like this... if you don't boot -v, what happens? You got the pci root job working or you get the error?

Try leaving the unibeast key in for now...boot select your installed disk tell me what you get...I remember my first build having a few problems, but in reality Tonymac guys have made it a piece of cake...we will get through this!!!

I took care of the 2TB HD Boot problem with the guide mentioned.

Booted with the Unibeast USB Stick and switched to HD with -v and got the following:

Boot2.jpg

I was not sure about the follwing:

BIOS Features / VT-d = Disabled (could not find in the BIOS settings??)
In the install guide I used, he thought this was significant, but I cannot find in my BIOS?

Oh! Rothko - were any of your builds with Rev 1.1 board? Seems to be more troublesome than 1.0

I have the exact same board, rev 1.1. The only BIOS change, I needed to change was AHCI to make it boot. The only other change I made was to Profile1 for memory, but that is a performance enhancement and should not effect your ability to boot.

Remake your Unibeast install drive and re-install. Watch your Console log when creating the key and when installing OSX. Watch for errors. I'm not sure if it is Unibeast or the OSX Installer's fault, but installs can and often do get corrupted. You appear to be having some disk issues in your startup log. When installing OSX, be sure to go into Disk Utility re-create the partitions. Ensure you are using GUID Partition Table and not Master Boot Record. This is the opposite of the UniBeast installer which needs Master Boot Record and not GUID.

On a number of occasions, I've had boot problem that were simply resolved by attempting the install again. The biggest problem I've come across is the main user ends up as a regular user not an administrator. Simply re-installing fixes it even though I did everything the same. While this isn't your problem, it demonstrates, installs can simply fail to work properly the first time.

I had a spare 1TB HD so I did the following:

Made new Unibeast Installer USB Stick
Installed on new HD (1 Partition)
Installed Multibeast
Restarted in -v mode and got this:

Boot3.jpg

It gets down to HDAEnabler and then IOPlatformPluginUtil and freezes.

That is 2 separate HDs with similar problems.

/dev/disk0s2 is showing a "NO WRITE" error.

Something appears to be wrong with your HDD(s), the way you partitioned it, the way you formatted it, or the way they are configured in your BIOS. Maybe even try using a different SATA port. If you're using SATA III ports, try using SATA II (or vice-versa) to see if something may be wrong with your motherboard.

Can you boot into single user mode? If so try running disk utility there. Be sure your Partition Map Scheme in Disk Utility (when selecting the drive) says the following at the bottom: GUID Partition Table. When clicking on the actual partition, it should say "Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)."

When test booting with problems, be sure to remove any extra expansion cards, CD/DVD drives, USB drives (except unibeast). Be sure you are installing OSX with your Unibeast drive using a USB 2.0 port, not a USB 3.0 port.

Which OSX ML version are you using to build the hack with.
And Yes many users of the version 1.1 MB have issues w the hardware when they build a hack over the version 1.0.

It appears that this is the problem
WARNING: IOPlatformPluginUtil : getCPUIDInfo: this is an unknown CPU model 0x3a
and are using our standard simbios 3,1 for this build (default) also you may need to tweak the SSDT settings that are used in MultiBeast - do some research on this !!!

SEE this link for a similar if no exact problem -

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280763-unknown-cpu-model-0x3a/
or that you cant find in the BIOS how to "disabling VT-d "
which is my pick.

You can use some added commands to remove this when you boot up from HD
dart=0

Also you should use the PCIRootUID=0 w the -v

So see if these linked commands work ( -v PCIRootUID=0 dart=0 acpi=off)

Try dart-0 first then add acpi=off as this is a through back to the Snow Leo days of power managment -
Also you may want to look at the ssdt forum for some clues
http://www.tonymacx86.com/ssdt/
also this is handfull but not complete. http://legacy.tonymacx86.com/wiki/index.php/Chimera

Also search the Site using the Search function for other posts on this motherboard model number - and see if any of the users used the F9 BIOS - I think that a roll back to a slightly older version maybe helpful. "Disabling vT-D "
Also make sure that you have Legacy USB support enabled in BIOS.
Hope this helps.

Tried the different commands while booting and still freezes on the IOPlatformPluginUtil :beachball:

I am not sure what to do. Is there a way to test motherboard or chip?

Should I try installing Linux just to see if everything works?

Yes it appears that the problem you are having is related to the fact that you are not finding in the BIOS where to disable BIOS Features / VT-d = Disabled

Strongly suggest you Return if possible that MB for one that has the feature in the BIOS to disable VT-d

If you can't do that then get a BIOS file that is not F9 and install that BIOS onto that Motherboard until you see in the BIOS where you disable Vt-d
You can install Linux but that runs on anything so you won't get a true feeling that its working.
