I got everything running super fast.. photoshop opens in like 2 seconds, but I still have no audio.

I've went through every option of multibeast without dsdt to try and get it to go. Tried once with DSDT, broke everything.

Wondering if the only way is with DSDT.. and if so what version.. the available on the forum are like from Lion and months ago that I can fiind.

I'm still stumped at how this can be a recommended build and not have anything pointing to how to get audio to work. ???

There must be something somewhere...

Ok this was a case of thinking to much.

Lorengrin
gets the credit again here with his advice:

I downloaded his files. I manually installed his Extra folder on my drives root folder, the one with Applications, Library, System and Users. I installed the kexts and repaired permissions with kext wizard. Thats it, audio works great, just have to select sources in sound control panel.

I didn't use Multibeast at all except for installing GTX680 support which looks like has to do with Open CL. I may use it for over clocking support eventually.

AKADIGITAL: I was relieved to come across your posting because we have a similar setup and I am at the end of my rope with trying to get mine to run properly. It seems that you have been successful in getting your audio working. I have not. I tried to follow your instructions above but there is something that I am unclear on and I'm sure that this is simply due to my inexperience. I located the files from Lorengrin but I am still not exactly sure what to do with them. You said to put them in the root, which is easy enough, but I I don't understand this part: "I installed the kexts and repaired permissions with kext wizard....". I can't find any info on installing kexts or how to repair a permission via 'kext wizard'. If you have a moment would you explain some of this to me? The rest of my Hackintosh seems to be complete but I am still not able to get sound and I was recently told that if my sound is not working this will effect whether or not I can get Premiere Pro to play back video via my GTX 680. Not sure why the two would be related but this is what I was told so this is where I am at this point. Many thanks for whatever you're wiling to offer. Pete

Lorengrin takes credit for X79 audio, attaches kexts he downloaded and chooses not to note where he found the solution.
X79 audio works with the Interim Realtek Ivy Bridge Lion AppleHDA.
If you use a dsdt, set the dsdt/HDEF/layout-id to 0x82, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00 as noted in the link.
For no dsdt, run MultiBeast 4.6.1/Drivers & Bootloaders/Kexts & Enablers/Audio/Realtek ALC8xx/Non-DSDT Enabler/ALC898.
To install the Interim AppleHDA.kext, Copy Downloads/Interim_Ivy_Bridge_Lion_AppleHDA/AppleHDA.kext to Desktop and run KextBeast to install.

I got my audio working based upon the info provided here and I'm most grateful. This is a huge relief. Sorry for the false alarm as I groped for even more assistance but after staring at it for a while it started to make sense so I moved ahead and it all worked first time. The only issue that slowed me down for a while was that the audio functions as "internal built-in speaker" rather than being "Line Out" as one would expect it to be. If you are looking for your audio remember to look for it here or you may not ever find it! By the way; once the audio was working my video through Premiere Pro also started to work so its all doing quite well at the moment.
Thanks again for everyone's help.

Hi, I tried all that and didn't have any success yet, are you sure to use MultiBeast 4.6.1? because last time I tried it blew up the entire system. Then I was using 5.2.1 instead, still no audio for me. Do you have any suggestions?

GA-X79-UD5
GEFORCE GTX 670
ML 10.8.2 no DSDT

I have this board and can't get sound to work. With the multibeast 5.2.1 898 installed I see all the options but iTunes won't even play, it doesn't recognize the outputs as existing (it will play through my ProTools hardware).

I tried the interim HDA kext and ended up back at NO AUDIO options in System Prefs - or do I need to re-install the kext from MultiBeast AFTER loading that alternate HDA?

otherwise what else can I do?

also having problems with a GT520 card on this board which I will replace tomorrow, not sure if that will impact the audio.

thanks.

having the exact same issues as adamsound.

once the smbios and the interim HDA is loaded i have No audio options at all. deleting the Extra folder on the Root level and reinstalling MB audio files gets the options back on reboot

any help would be appreciated

The Audio ID is different in ML. Attach a copy of IOReg. [Guide] How to Make a Copy of IOReg.

ML Audio ID: 1 (no sound) MultiBeast 5.3/HDAEnabler1.kext or dsdt/HDEF/layout-id 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00
SL/L Audio ID: 898 (sound) MultiBeast 4.6.1/HDAEnabler898.kext or dsdt/HDEF/layout-id 0x82, 0x003, 0x00, 0x0
