I have an ATI Radeon HD 6850 card. Under Lion, one of the two DVI ports wouldn't work unless I used a hacked ATI6000Controller.kext (that I found on one of the forums) and set <key>AtiConfig</key><string>Gibba</string> <key>AtiPorts</key><string>5</string> in my org.chameleon.Boot.plist.

Under Mountain Lion, that hacked kext no longer works at all (no video after the boot loading spinner screen), so I'm back to using the default ATI6000Controller.kext. I find I can use this with either GraphicsEnabler=Yes or GraphicsEnabler=No, but neither one gives me any video on the lower DVI port.

I've heard other people say that both DVI ports work fine with this card under Mountain Lion ("http://www.howtohackintosh.com/2012/03/03/how-to-use-two-dvi-ports-in-os-x-lion-on-a-hackintosh/" for example), but I can't get it to work. Is anyone else having success with two DVI displays on a 6850 or 6870? How did you configure it?

Hey there,

I am currently running a modified ktext under lion that allows all 4 ports on the gigabyte 6850 to work, I haven't moved to mt lion quite yet. If you'd like to give mine a try and report back that would be awesome for both of us.

Again no idea if this will work under mt lion but figure its worth a shot.

If this is based on the Lion kext then I suspect it won't work, but I'd be happy to give it a try. What settings are needed in org.chameleon.Boot.plist?

You will have to edit your ATI6000Controller.kext - there's no other way around it if you want to use both DPs.
Otherwise, use DP1 and HDMI.

I've attached my edited kext so you can see if it works for you.

You need the same flags in your boot.plist - i.e.

<key>AtiConfig</key>
<string>Gibba</string>
<key>AtiPorts</key>
<string>5</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>

Keep a copy of your original ATI6000Controller.kext somewhere .
Hope it helps

Hopefully I can save the heartache. I tried it and it does not work. I am going to edit the mountain lion one sometime next week. Will post when done!

Do you know if this activates all ports? I have a triscreen setup and need both DVI as well as Display port. If it doesn't I will try editing the original. I have that

yeah, it activates all ports.
However, if you use HDMI - DVI2 won't work
so you can use the following combinations:

combination of either DVI 1 + DVI 2 + DP 1 + DP 2 or DVI 1 + HDMI + DP 1 + DP 2 as maximum four connectors. Also, DVI 1 + DVI 2 or DP 1 + DVI 2 or DP 2 + DVI 2, for example. All connectors can be plugged and unplugged (detectable).

Note: DVI 2 will be disabled when HDMI is active.

Cool, I may give it a try. Curious, what model of the 6850 are you running? I have the Gigabyte 6850 and It has the following port layout,

[DVI-top], [HDMI], [DP]
[DVI-bottom]

wondering if yours will work since we have different ports.

Hi FishCow! Can you teach us how to the edits? In Lion, I am using this guide [Guide] Getting XFX HD6850 connectors to work - InsanelyMac Forum to modify my ATI6000Controller.kext. However, it seems that the address/offset of the personalities have been changed in Mountain Lion.
