This is a functional OSX 10.8.4 installation in an i5 Intel NUC. Others may want to complete the issues below.

NUC BIOS Settings:
- Set to DEFAULT, then
- UNCHECK - Intel Virtual Technology
- UNCHECK - Intel VT for directed I/O (VT-d)

- CHECK - Laptop Support
Installation Notes:
- A reboot is required during installation - I found it necessary to use safe mode (-x)

Compromises:
- Wireless Networking using the Intel Centrino isn't working. I'm using wired ethernet so this isn't a problem.
- Audio over HDMI isn't working yet, but USB speakers work fine.
Notes:
- I was able to run the App Store 10.8.4 updates with no difficulties.
- "About this Mac" suggests the i5 NUC is a "Early 2008 Mac Pro"
