Guide : Mountain Lion on ASROCK VISION 3D 137 B/D
Hi everybody,
I managed to get ML running on my ASROCK VISION 3D 137D. You can apply this guide on 137B or 137D model (only DVD or Blu-Ray player differ on these computers).
You'll find here a presentation of the computer and here the hardware report for it.
And now, this is how I did (with video output via HDMI cable) ...
A - BIOS Setup
You have to configure the bios (entering in BIOS Settings via F2 key) like this :
1 - Menu "EXIT" -> Load BIOS defaults
2 - Menu "EXIT" -> Load Performance Setup AHCI Mode
3 - Menu "ADVANCED" -> "CPU Configuration" -> "No-execute Memory protection" = "Enabled"
4 - Menu "EXIT" -> "Save and Exit"
B - Install ML via Unibeast
-> I created a "Unibeast for Laptop" USB flash drive
-> See how to on http://www.tonymacx86.com/61-unibeast-install-os-x-mountain-lion-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
-> You can have some difficulties to boot, but try a few times. Sometimes, you have to push on the power button when it seems freezed at booting ...
C - Post-Installation (1) Using MultiBeast
I used the DSDT file for ASRock Vision 3D (SATA Device Tree 5i + 1e) made by peterhaas that you can find here :
http://www.tonymacx86.com/dsdt/4125-dsdt-database-non-gigabyte-submission-thread-8.html#post57365
-> you have to rename the "2010-12-24-ASRock-Vision-3D-dsdt.aml" file to "DSDT.aml" and put it on the desktop
Many big thanks to Peter for his valuable contribution !
Here are the options I selected :
- UserDSDT
- Driver Audio : Realtek - with DSDT - ALC889a/885
- Disk : 3rd Party SATA + 3rd Party eSata + JMicron36x ATA (+ 10.8.3 TRIM Patch if you use a SSD)
- Graphics : nothing
- Miscellaneaous : FakeSMC + Fake SMC Plugins + USB3
- Network : Realtek - Lnx2Mac's
- Bootloader : Chimera v2.0.1 r2109
NB : I don't really know if "JMicron36x ATA" is needed.
D - Post-Installation (2) Using KextBeast
In order to use Wi-Fi, you have to install two kexts files (system extensions) using KextBeast.
KextBeast is available here : http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=32
The kext files are the two first in the AtherosAR5B97pack available here : http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2588
Which are :
- IO80211Family.kext
- IO80211Family9287.kext
No need to install "IONetworkingFamily.kext"
Conclusion
With this installation, near all the hardware is supported :
- Audio (ALC885)
- Graphic card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M)
- Ethernet (Realtek Semiconductor RTL8168/8111 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter)
- WIFI (Atheros AR9287 Wireless Network Adapter)
- USB3
- Sleep
...
You'll have the best Mac Mini ever !
However, I didn't check if card reader and eSATA ports are working.
Some minors problems needs also to be fixed :
- No HDMI audio
- No Remote support
- Computer randomly don't manage to launch OS X after Chameleon boot (it give a black screen after the first "apple screen", very strange)
Regards
