All,
Just a quick build guide to take you through the process of a successful installation of Mountain Lion on the "CustoMac Pro 2010". I'd also invite those more knowledgeable than I to offer suggestions and support below. I'm absolutely happy to update this guide if others can enhance the content below, provided it's for the same Motherboard and Videocard.
What the heck is a CustoMac Pro 2010?:
tonymacx86 Blog: Building a CustoMac: CustoMac Pro 2010
Variations
* CPU: i7 930
* RAM: 12GB Ripjaws
* Some cheap no-name USB Bluetooth Transceiver
What Works
* Everything except as noted below.
What Doesn't
* No Sleep - July 27th (Actually, I haven't bothered, because I dont put my pc to sleep - I just disable it)
* 1394 - Again, I don't use it, so I just disable it in BIOS.
Disclaimer
Do this at your own risk, and also, I'm not going to lose any sleep at night if sleep or "feature x" doesn't work unless it's important to me. This guide is a working installation with all my own bases covered. I'm writing this so others can get up-and-running as quickly as possible.
And just how did I do this
1. Upgraded my BIOS to FH, in order to do this you must use Windows 7 *sadface* and the @bios utility provided by Gigabyte on their website.
2. In BIOS, disabled the disk controllers that I wasn't using, and set AHCI on the ones that I wanted. Enabled HPET 64-bit too. Changed the boot order.
3. Using an existing mac, I created UniBeast USB as per: tonymacx86 - UniBeast 1.5: Install OS X Mountain Lion on Any Supported Intel-based PC
4. After creating the USB, I booted from the USB, used "Disk Utility" during the mountain lion setup and formated the destination drive. (More information in the URL mentined in step 3)
5. Installed Mountain Lion to the drive mentioned in step 4 by following the prompts.
6. Installed MultiBeast http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=34
7. Checked the options noted in the attached screenshot in MultiBeast
8. Rebooted, this time booting off my HDD, and not my USB
9. Done, well kinda, I still had to install my own apps. There are also a bunch of tweaks mentioned here that I haven't got around to yet tonymacx86 Forum • View topic - Lion Works in GA-X58A-UD3R v2.0 FF
I hope this helps!
Cheers,
Jeremy
