Ah, and looking at the specs of the GA-Z68X-UD3H, i noticed it uses a Firewire VIA chipset. I've been reading here that it's kind of faulty in OSX and/or not fully supported if working at all. Is yours working ? If not, i'd have to buy a PCIe based FW 400/800 right ? FW is mandatory for me, i've got loads of FW drives and my audio interface...

Excellent ! Thank you ! It seems your "Son of Zorro" is looking very much like my future "Little Mermaid" - my singing new Hackintosh ! Except that i can get a quite cheap Radeon HD6870, which is close to yours, will i be ok with it ? Plus i often get confused with that "GraphicsEnabler" thing. What does it do when it's on, what...

That's good news ! And would be perfect for me as an i7 2700k (slightly oc'd) would be a sufficient beast for audio production (remember i'm at the moment using a MacPro1,1 Quad 3.0 for the task, and getting along with it hassle free ! But still want some kind of a speed bump). And i'll get a graphic card with it to power my dual display setup. ...

Yep, you're absolutely right... Sorry about that, but stumbling across here while using the search engine about hacks builds for PT, noticed you had more or less what i'm dreaming of... Although my control room is half the size of yours. So, in a kind of frantic manner after reading all this exciting thread (mainly because i'm a long time...

No problem ! 32GB RAM is more than enough for my needs ! And basically, my aim is not to replicate such a MacPro, because anyway i couldn't come close to such power with a single i7, even outrageously OC'ed... If I wanted that, i'd look for something like an EVGA SR-X board with dual Xeons (something like that ? Btw, that one made me sweat !...

Not afraid either, but when it comes to the overall system performance, i tend to be demanding. And although i bought Lion when it went out (at 1st tested on my home iMac 27, eventually went up to 10.7.4), i was more than deceived by its overall performance compared to SL (10.6.8). I had the impression that with Lion, Apple wanted to satisfy...

Yes true... That shouldn't be too much of a hassle then, and i should say, the only way to know is to give it a try... :P
