Hmm.... that would've been great to know beforehand. In any case, the Marvell controller is working great for both optical and HDDs!

My mobo of Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP4 TH has 6 SATA ports, which I thought would be enough. However, the mSATA drive slot on the mobo is on the same bus as the 6th SATA port, so I can only use one or the other (plugging in an mSATA disables the 6th SATA port). To get around this issue, I figured I would just buy an PCIe-to-SATA controller...

What drivers did you install to get the USB 3.0 on the UP4-TH recognized in Mountain Lion? I've kept the OS up to date, but I've never gone back to check on the USB 3.0 ports since it wasn't compatible a year ago. Did you pick up drivers through Multibeast, or did the latest OS update allow you to use the 3.0 ports? This would be great news...

Sorry, that was my mistake - it's been a while since I opened my case to look at my motherboard. There are three USB 2.0 headers on the motherboard and one USB 3.0 header.
