cpus=1 set the cpu to one core, mostly for unsupported chips is is why. Mine wasn't supported thus needed that boot flag. Though I still do not know the full exacts of it and my benchmarks were still good.
-v is only to see where it stops as it is booting up if it does, you do not need to boot with this.
