Motherboard
Asus G73JH HackBook Pro
CPU
i7 720QM
Graphics
HD5870 (1GB)
Mac
  1. MacBook Air
  2. MacBook Pro
I try to install Mavericks on my G74SX but the installer wont show up. After booting the Unibeast USB stick and loading the kexts the screen stays just black. All seems to load fine up to PCI check when the installer would show up after.
I tried with -PCIRootUID=0 GraphicsEnabler=Yes -v -x , nothing.

my specifics: G74SX TZ344V with i7-2670QM, 8 GB, GTX 560M (3GB), 256 GB SATA SSD, 750 GB SATA.
BIOS settings all default with USB boot. I also tried the modified extended 203 BIOS to uncheck USB3. (now back to original BIOS)

I thought it maybe an issue with the SSD and put it out with only the SATA HDD in. I also tried to use my older ML USB Stick, but same black screen. Even if I put in my original SL DVD with iBoot DVD (what on all my laptops was ok) it stays black.

Maybe the stock Chimera on the Unibeast Mav USB is the prob.. how could this be modified?

grrrr..

ok, found the prob..on the USB in the original chameleon.plist there was the flag ´GraphicsEnabler=No´ set ..I dont know why my flag writing ´GE=Yes´didnt succeed though ?
changed it to ´yes´ and now the installer loads.

Greetings...

Please provide complete details in your profile.

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx). For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

updated my profile..
Asus G74SX , i7 2670QM , GTX 560M (3GB) , Intel HM65 , 750 GB SATA, 3D display 120 Hrz LED 1920x1080

well I tried it after this method.. http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-...tain-lion-10-8-2-asus-g74sx-start-finish.html but no luck..
I tried Mavericks but now I try ML again, Unibeast method, without Multibeast.
I use the patched 203 Bios (for working backlight), the updated kexts and DSDT from the thread. I get a KP relating AppleIntelPowermanagement which is in the provided kexts there. Perhaps it is a must deleting the kext when using the patched BIOS?

What when wrong with the guide?

Note: I know very little about discrete graphics setup.

well, it doesnt work? Maybe because my installation is stock 10.8.2, not 10.8.0 ?
It is unclear if that guide is working with the modded 203 BIOS and the updated DSDT posted.
could you perhaps answer in the original thread? I thought you were very successful in that thread? ..would be great, many thanks..
the GTX560M seems to be working fine..

Not descriptive enough for anyone to help. You need to be specific about what you tried and what didn't work.

Hi everyone, appreciate if you can share with me DSDT and kexts that you are using for this very specific model: ASUS G74S - 2670QM, GTX 560M.

I've managed to get it up and run 10.9.1 but the Fn key and adjust brightness are not working.

Thanks for your help.

Do you have a brightness slider in SysPrefs->Displays?

If not, assuming you already have QE/CI working: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch
Apply:
"Rename GFX0 to IGPU"
"Brightness Fix (HD3000/HD4000)"
install: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-ACPI-Backlight

Thanks, i installed this https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-ACPI-Backlight and see the slider in SysPrefs --> Displays. However, slider does not work and no effect at all. Please kindly advise. Thanks.
