Working Mavericks 10.9.4 Asus ROG Hero VII Z97 and i7 4790K using UniBeast/MultiBeast, Sound now working!
First of all. Thank you guys for this awesome community, you make the impossible possible
Note!
Working on a complete guide to get audio and all working on Hero VII, will post link in here once it is done.
I finally got Maverics up and running on my new computer. No patched bios, no DSDT, nothing special really...
Specs:
MB: Asus ROG Hero VII Z97
CPU: Intel i7 4790K DC
RAM:4 x 4GB DDR3 1600
SSD: Toshiba Q-series Pro 256 GB
Installed without, and have not tested the setup with my GeForce GTX 780 because it is off for a fan replacement. Will report back once it arrives back.
Tried Clover, but had all sorts of problems with it, so decided to try the good old UniBeast/MultiBeast method, and it worked out perfectly after a lot of trial and error.
Disclaimer:
I take no responsibility what so ever if you mess up your computer by doing the same as me.
First of all disconnect any other HDD/SSD, then disable LAN in UEFI BIOS
Then installed normally with Unibeast USB stick (I think mine is 10.9.2) and booted from the USB stick using -x flag, run MultiBeast with the following choices:
-Drivers -> Disk -> 3rd Party SATA
-Drivers -> Misc -> FakeSMC v6.8.1307
-Drivers -> System -> AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset
-Bootloaders -> Chimera v3.0.1
-Customize -> Boot Options -> Basic Boot Options
-Customize -> System Definition -> Mac Pro -> iMac 14,2
-Customize -> Themes -> tonymacx86 Black
-Install working LAN kext using KextBeast (Google "intel i218v kext", and you should be able to find it).
-Reboot
It should boot without -x and with LAN enabled now, it will use a minute or two to boot. At least mine did.
Move the boot stuff and extra folder to EFI partition following URL="http://www.tonymacx86.com/401-install-bootloader-extra-efi-partition.html"]tonymacx86´s guide[/URL]. The only problem I had during this was the activation of EFI partiton. Got it working by redoing step 5 in the guide after a reboot, or at least i think that was why it suddenly worked... Before i always got the Boot0 error, but now it´s fine.
Mine was booting consistently on it´s own by now, but very slow and there was no QE/CI.
Used the patched kext from tonymacx86 and now it works just perfect, booting in seconds and full QE/CI.
Also decided to try the guide for Mavericks: Native CPU/IGPU Power Management and that works perfect as well. It was stepping the processor before, but does it much better now, many more steps an more consistent.
Except for sound it´s all working perfect, even sleep works out of the box.
I can´t get the onboard "SupremeFX 2014" to work at all, even though it is based on the Realtek 1150 chip. Have tried the 1150 kext in MultiBest with the EFI and 9-series addons, but no luck. Even breifely tried Voodoo HDA, but no. Guess I will have to get a USB sound card for now...
Appreciate any help with the sound issue.
Over all it works beyond all expectation for now.
Thank You tonymacx86 and the rest of the guys in here for making this possible
