Haven't had this issue up until now, but I went from 10.8.3 to Mavericks. Running a GA-Z77X-UD5H, i7 3770k, using HD4000 graphics - Monitor connected via DVI.

Machine boots fine, restarts fine, and manually sleeping/turning off display allows waking within a minute or two by hitting the kb/mouse.

However, when the display shuts off I can't wake it up again via USB KB/Mouse (have tried both USB2 and USB3 ports)

I also have a new issue with sleeping. My machine would work perfectly before and actually turn the machine off - everything would spin down, and when I hit the keyboard it would spin back up instantly. Now when I manually put it to sleep the display will shut off but the rest of the machine is still running.

Played with some BIOS settings to no avail (someone mentioned some like fixing the boot priority to make sure it's booting via P0:<drive name> not UEFI:<drive>, but no dice, so I just went back to the optimized defaults).

I haven't updated the BIOS or anything, only difference was an upgrade to Mavericks, and a Multibeast 6.0 default install for DSDT-Free with added audio & atheros/intel for LAN ports & usb3 generic.

Any ideas? Getting annoying keeping my monitor on 24/7 or having to reboot every time it shuts off. Any/all help appreciated!

I'm also having a problem with sleep, except my sleep actually turns off my monitor and machine, but my display doesn't turn back on (after it wakes up from sleep). Tried to disconnect/reconnect, no dice. Have to reboot in order to get it back up. I have the same Motherboard and processor, but I'm using a MSI GTX 660

I think I kinda/sorta got it working now. It was 99% tweaking the BIOS.

I went back into Multibeast and installed the "AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset" - which deletes NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, but still allows you to boot w/o a kernel panic.

For the BIOS:
I believe a combo of Turning off CPU PLL Overvoltage (think it's in the first tab of bios, under voltage performance, and then like 'advanced cpu voltage').

My motherboard somehow switch to UEFI mode to boot, rather than the Legacy mode - so the first boot priority was UEFI: <My SSD> instead of P0: <My SSD> - so I switched that back to Legacy (PX).

Made sure xhci/ehci hand-off were both enabled.

And I previously had X.M.P. (Extreme Memory Profile) turned on, I remember turning it on when I first built my hackintosh because it was only showing my ram as 1333mhz (instead of 1600). That was turned off, so I re-enabled it and set the enhance-mode to Turbo.

I also repaired permissions and nuked the kext cache after I made big changes.

I'm going to leave it alone for a few hours and come back, all seems to be working right again. Other than some slight delay in going to sleep which it didn't have previously, but that's fine. Not so worried about the computer sleeping, more about not being able to wake up the display.

Hi mikeyur

I have the same problem takes a long time to go to sleep, and wake.

I wanted to ask you do you have to press the power button twice to wake up. once to wake the computer up and once again to wake the display and mouse and keyboard?.

As this is what I have to do.

But eventually the sleep problem appeared: my keyboard (USB) wouldn’t wake up and sometimes my monitor followed example.

First I tried to upgrade my BIOS from F14 to the latest F15 – but all I got in result was silver screen with spinning wheel. I hastily returned to my F14 and could get the system again but the sleep still wouldn’t work. I tried fussing with darwake values – but in vain.

Eventually I tweaked the BIOS following somebody’s advice:

- I disabled XMP
- XHCI – smart auto
- EHCI Hands Off - Disabled

I had turned Wake On Lan off before and as I use solely my GTX 660 I turned off the on board graphics – I’m not sure if it’s necessary. And it did the trick. Both manual and automatic sleep is now working flawlessly.

It just takes a long time to sleep, but it wakes near instantly. I can wake via keyboard now that I made the BIOS tweaks (from sleep & display off).

All seems to be working fairly well - and the sleep issues are apparently somewhat related to Mavericks, as I'm noticing a delay on my Mac Mini and have seen other people complaining about long sleep time with 10.9.

That's so weird, my settings are almost the exact opposite and my machine is running fine now. I have XHCI on Auto, XMP enabled so it utilizes my ram (1600mhz vs 1333mhz it was showing before), and EHCI hand-off is enabled. And it's all working perfectly now...

I should really learn more about what these exact features do.. But all is working right now so I don't want to tweak anything :p

i have this mobo and have experienced the same problems since osx 10.8.2 or so - machine wouldn't sleep, or wouldn't wake, or wouldn't shut down, or keyboard wouldn't work on cold boot until os has finished loading, or some devices wouldn't wake up until manual disconnect/reconnect.

It seems to be related to how osx handles usb, and I have been unable to find a fix, other than to try out different combinations of where each usb device is plugged and rebuild extensions every time, as well as maybe change the bios settings to see if that makes a difference. Eventually one of them is kind of stable.. until the next time some software adds a kernel extension or otherwise triggers a rebuild of the kernel cache.

Eventually i just gave up on a combination that has usb3 working (genericusbhxci), and each device works OK on boot. The machine wouldn't shut down, and by now I've forgotten if it wouldn't sleep or wouldn't wake up. I worry little about this, since it is otherwise stable and trouble-free. I put up with having to shutdown and then hold the power button, oldschool ;]

hope this gives someone some peace of mind.
