My System (Some Parts Discontinued):

  • BIOS: 1602
  • Sound: VIA VT1708S audio codec
  • USB3: NEC USB 3.0 controller

Extra Peripherals:

Prerequisites:

BIOS Configurations:

  1. Main>Storage Configuration
    • Configure SATA as > AHCI bios-main-configureSATAasAHCI_zps24267736.jpg
  2. Advanced>Onboard Devices Configuration
    • Marvell SATA Controller > AHCI Mode bios-advanced-onboardMarvellAHCIMode_zps996aa4df.jpg
  3. Power
    • Suspend Mode > S3 Only bios-power-SuspendModeS3Only_zps27ecabab.jpg

Installation:

  1. Boot your machine into the USB drive you created with UniBeast
  2. Highlight the USB installer and type the following parameters "flags"
    • Code:
      GraphicsEnabler=Yes PCIRootUID=0
    • *Note* The new MultiBeast 6.0 has the GraphicsEnabler kernel flag defaulted to "No" and PCIRootUID set to 1 so this was needed to prevent a black screen after trying to boot into the UniBeast USB to begin the installation. I actually changed the default setting back to "Yes" & "0" on my installer after creating my USB
  3. Go to Utilities and open Disk Utility
  4. Select the drive that you want to install OS X 10.9 Mavericks on to
    • Partition as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" with a "GUID Partition Map Table"
  5. Install OS X 10.9 onto the newly partitioned drive
  6. Reboot after installation has completed and again boot back into the USB UniBeast drive
  7. Highlight the drive that you just installed OS X onto and boot into it without typing any additional "flags"
  8. Download the following apps and kexts:
    • MultiBeast 6.0 or newer, KextBeast or Champlist (*Note* I prefer, and used Champlist for cache rebuild and kext installations. You can also edit your boot.chameleon.org.plist & smbios.plist settings with it instead of using MultiBeast.)
    • VoodooHDA.kext - Attached - (Customized to enable onboard Mic and fix volume slider)
    • DSDT.aml file - Attached - (*Note* I created and patched my own DSDT for BIOS version 1602. I did NOT upgrade my BIOS to 1701 for compatibility reasons.
  9. Place the DSDT.aml file on the desktop
  10. Launch MultiBeast and select the appropriate drivers for your system. Below is my configuration
    • 80029-screenshot2013-10-24at12438am-zpsdacc8d05.png
    • *Note* I will be changing my System definitions once MacPro 6,1 is released
  11. Go into System/Library/Extensions folder and delete the following 2 kext files:
    • AppleHDA.kext
    • VoodooHDA.kext
  12. Launch Champlist or KextBeast and install the attached custom VoodooHDA.kext
    • *Note* If using Champlist, be sure to select the correct drive from the dropdown in the upper right hand corner first!
    • *Note* My VoodooHDA.kext has been cutom edited for the VIA VT1708S audio codec with working Mic
  13. Launch Disk Utility and repair permissions on the drive
  14. Launch Champlist and select the SMBios tab (Be sure to have the correct drive selected in the upper right hand corner) and select the following options
    • 80028-screenshot2013-10-23at14448am-zps4fa702f5.jpg
  15. Run the Chameleon bootloader installer, select Customize and install FileNVRAM from the Modules section
    • *Note* This will enable iMessage functionality. Feel free to overwrite with Chimera 2.2.1 r2246 again afterwards via MultiBeast
    • 80031-screenshot2013-10-29at104832am-zps17128704.jpg
  16. Launch Disk Utility again and repair permissions a final time
  17. Reboot and Welcome to Mavericks! :headbang:

Hi! Great Job!
i have a similar configuration (a i5 with nvidia 240) and my mobo is this: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P7P55M/#specifications
Can i use your aml ? or any suggestion how to edit it?

Thx for the kudos! I do not suggest using my aml for your setup as they have different components and BIOS version. Please go to the Downloads>DSDT section and get the correct one for your system. If your BIOS version is not listed, then I would suggest upgrading/downgrading to the compatible version.

I downgrade my bios to be more compatible with dsdt database version. as before i was able to install and boot in mavericks. but after using multibeast i keep hanging out on reboot screen. I can't login with -x flag :S.
these are screenshot of what happens with or without -x

try Safe Boot (-x), then do the following:

  1. go to System/Library/Extentions (S/L/E) and delete AppleACPIPlatform.kext.
    • If you do not see this kext file then that's your issue. Running MultiBeast again should install and resolve...if not continue reading.
  2. Launch Disk Utility and repair permissions
  3. Using KextBeast or Champlist do the following: (i used Champlist in this example)
    • Launch Champlist, click Kext Utility and also select the drive you installed OS X on in upper right corner

      Champlist_zps90120f07.png
      • Install AppleACPIPlatform.kext I provided and rebuild cache (*Note* This AppleACPIPlatform.kext is v1.3.6. The version contained in MultiBeast 6.0 is newer which should have worked but that's not always the case. This kext is needed or your system wont boot and will get stuck at the Grey Apple boot screen with no spinning dial. If you boot with verbose (-v) you will get stuck at “IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:87”:Pic

Thx for your assistance :D ! i have tried it but still cracking audio.. it's working but lagging and noising. do you have modded bios for audio compatibility ? i have a 2.1 system plugged in line out green rear.
ps i'm using hdmi plugged to a monitor

Thank you. This finally go my ASUS P7P55D-E Pro working with Mavericks. I think the BIOS downgrade was the ticket.

There are other threads on this site that help resolve the crackling noise with your audio. I didn't have this problem because my MoBo doesn't have HDMI so I am using the standard "green" Line-Out port.
