Hack to iMac

Hi all,

It looks like I'll be getting an iMac, and I want to transfer everything from my Hack to the new iMac. Obviously I'm talking about my applications (paid ones) and files. My current Hack has a separate SSD for the OS/Apps, and a HDD for all of my files.

What's the best and fastest way to do this?

just connect your Hack's drive's to your Apple iMac

from your iMac OSX desktop, open Utilities and launch Migration Assistant

Migration Assistant will ask you what you want to transfer/migrate from your Hack's drives

run your selections to get whatever Apps/settings/data you want !

What would be the downside of just copying my Hack's "Applications" folder to the iMac's "Applications" folder, and the same for the user folder?

Migration Assistant knows exactly what files are needed for each application. I would also have Migration Assistant "migrate" your user account on your Hackintosh onto the iMac as a lot of applications store files in your ~/Library folder.

When you run Migration Assistant, you will eventually get to a list of folders and files to transfer. Do not pick "Other Files and Folders on Apple" as you may copy over hackintosh files. See this Apple Migration Assistant guide: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204320.

This made no difference for me. Still ran into problems - hackintosh setup still was there.
