I have a big problem, as I now have 2 computers that don't work.
In the process of trying to make a Hackintosh of my PC, I killed my current Mac Pro (early 2008)

By accident I opened (I think) a mac_kernel file on my Mac Pro . It seemed that the kernel of my Mac Pro was patched. I am really a beginner, so don't have clue where to start.

When I inserted the unibeast usb it hang over and over again. As the Mac Pro was still on mavericks
and I already downloaded Yosemite, I thought a fresh install of Yosemite would fix it.

During the installation it restarted and now there is a grey screen with apple logo and all kind of text . I can not get into the OSX.

- HOW CAN I INSTALL YOSEMITE, ON A MAC, WITHOUT A FUNCTIONING OSX?
- As I can not download it, I hope the 'USB' I made for my hackintosh can do it?

I don’t have any clue where to start.

Please help

goto the apple store and make a normal usb installer there.

Boot your Mac from the recovery partition : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

Good Luck

Thanks. Command R, did give me the opportunity for Time machine recovery and a fresh install of Yosemite, but both did not succeed. I also tried a new/ blank disc install, but no luck .
I think the original Mac Pro "Mach_kernel" was patched by a X99-deluxe kernel. I have the feeling the “mach_kernel” is something "inside" the Mac, so a recovery/ fresh install doesn't fix it. (apparently) .
When I startup with Command R > disk utility I see a "disk 2 >OS X Base system" 1.29 GB
I am afraid that the problem is in there? Can I delete that 1.29 GB space? Or any ideas?

Please, please somebody help, anybody? thanks

What Mac Pro do you have ?
If it is 3,1 it will run Yosemite. No mods.
If it is 2,1 or 1,1 it won't without mods to kernel file.
These machines run 10.7.5 (Lion).
You can run Mountain Lion through Yosemite on these with mods and different video card.
At Mac Rumors check out Tiamo boot file and Pike's boot.

If it is 3,1 and you have hosed install or hosed OS.
Just get a copy of Yosemite from Apple Store or read how to make an installer usb.

If it is 2,1 or 1,1 reinstall Lion or get Snow Leopard DVD from Apple for $20.

Modifying the kernel involves changing permissions so You did not do it.
An apple installer will change it or some misuse of Tonymac installer.

You also can turn your Pro into a Hackintosh..see instructions at Mac Rumors.
