Hi guys,

I've spent hours reading threads and have tried multiple times and am asking for some help:

1) Trying to figure out the best way to install Yosemite on this laptop if possible UNIBEAST or CLOVER?
2) When I use the standard unibeast install with laptop support I lock up at apple logo and reset automatically. I have read about the haswell reboot problems but I am not following the resolution of patching kernels (none exist that I could find with the unibeast method - the USB stick doesn't have the folders/files referenced?)
3) if the best method is clover (I've never used) where is the best place to find kexts for my laptop? (not finding any?)

With that said, I"m new to the forums, so go easy on me. My goal is to turn my $2600 laptop into a top notch mac book pro. If this is unrealistic or a waste of my time considering the hardware, an honest response is appreciated :)

Thanks Repo. I reviewed the post and now have some separate questions I'm hoping you can help with. I've booted and everything is fine (from a haswell early boot perspective) but now I'm receiving additional errors.

I have no idea why the photo orientation is screwed up sorry about that.

You did not follow the guide... Read them (whichever one you're using) carefully.

Hello All,

i'm a proud owner of a superduper fast Asus G751 (JT) with a GTX 970m (i7 4710hq).

I managed to install Mavericks (10.9.5) with UniBeast 5.0 and " nv_disable=1 -x " after patching the mach_kernel the way RehabMan told us to do (thanks so much!!).

Problems on the way:

1.) Before patching the kernel i had the "early reboot" problem (solved)
2.) A "still waiting for device" problem was only solved by removing unnecessery RAM (had 12 GB, now 8GB) (solved)
3.) Sometimes my keyboard and trackpad didn't worked at all. Booting with -x (in safe mode) was the only solution. I've played a little with MulitBeast and now its working good most of the time.
4.) Even with the Web Drivers from Nvidia i didn't managed to get the GTX 970m to work. I've used -nvda_drv=1, but osx hangs while booting (at ~90%) with "NVDA: Unknow device G204" or so... I still have to use nv_disable=1 to boot into Mavericks.
5.) My builtin HD 4600 cant be recognised too, so no acceleration...
6.) No Sound :(
7.) The buildin Intel WLAN-Card don't work (and maybe will never do) in Mavericks. I bought a cheap, very small WLAN dongle (Edimax 7811Un, also good for Pasberry Pi) which is working good after installing the drivers in Mavericks.

So, solving the GTX 970m/980m NVidia driver hang would be great! If someone has an idea, what can or might be the reason...?

Ciao,

Dirk

Ciao,

Dirk

Does your laptop have only nvidia or both nvidia and Intel graphics?

It has both, a HD 4600 and a NVidia 970m GTX...

I would be very happy if i could use ONE of them... ;) Even the HD 4600 would be a great thing.

The discrete graphics capability in a switched dual-GPU configuration is not supported with OS X on hacks. Best you can do is disable the discrete part with SSDT/DSDT patches.

So: You'll need to use HD4600.

Please make your profile accurately reflect your hardware.

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Ok, sorry, i'll do that tonight...

Is there a way to switch off the HD 4600 by software, cause in my BIOS it's impossible.
Is it then maybe possible to get the dedicated GPU to work with OSX?

Sorry for my english.. ;)
