Lenovo G500

Graphics
Intel HD 4000 Graphics
Mac
  1. iMac
Intel Core i3-3120M 2.5GHz, Intel HD 4000 Graphics with 1.7GB shared memory on Windows 8, 7-Series Chipset. Should work, right?

I first wanted to try installing Mountain Lion, since Apple's done with updates and the main stuff should all be supported. So I get UniBeast and make a USB installer and after a few tries I get the Installer running. I find out that it only boots through the left-side USB ports (the right side one is 2.0, the left ones are 3.0). Keyboard and trackpad both work perfectly. As I do use this computer and can't disable it for an experiment, I decided to install OS X to an external USB hard drive first and try from there, so I do that. After a fast initial installation process, I reboot to find that I need to use -f to get OS X running, and after a few tries I get the Setup Assistant. Except the trackpad didn't work anymore, only the keyboard. Oh well. I get a mouse and plug it on the left side of the computer, then enable Mouse Keys. No graphics acceleration, no sound, no battery/power management, didn't test sleep or network, though it seemed to detect Ethernet. I get MultiBeast and use EasyBeast. Reboot, and… can't boot anymore! :-X
From the boot partition bootloader, I get AppleUSBEHCI: unable to obtain ownership, unable to initialize.
Tried using USBBusFix=Yes, EHCIhard=Yes, disabling legacy USB in the BIOS, and of course -v -f. Same thing.
From the original UniBeast bootloader, I now get a black screen just like this one!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te9lLTxDnOg Tried PCIRootUID=0, GraphicsEnabler=0, no luck.

Shouldn't the main hardware on this work right out of the box? Where's the problem?

Thanks a lot in advance everybody
:D

Please help, I've only built hackintoshes based on popular builds with guides before, and that was more than 3 years ago, things were quite different back then.

It looks like your system has an nvidia (not mentioned in your "specs" above). I assume it is switched (Optimus) not dedicated, since you also mention HD4000. If you can't disable it in BIOS, you must remove the nvidia drivers. Also, for initial setup, you should use "IGPEnabler=No -x -v".

After initial installation, you should setup the bootloader and power management: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...nagement-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-laptops.html. EasyBeast is not appropriate for a laptop.

After that you need to enable HD4000. Requires injecting the ig-platform-id that works for your system. Usually it depends on your screen resolution.

For your USB issue, check your BIOS settings, and also try ECHIacquire=Y, EHCIhard=Y, and/or USBBusFix=Y. You might also try -gux_defer_usb2.

Once you're booting from your HDD with power management and working graphics, you can work on the other things.

Thanks for replying so quickly

I don't think so. It's not mentioned anywhere. Not in the Device Manager in Windows, not in the BIOS, not in Lenovo's website… I'll try IGPEnabler=No -x -v and report what happens.

I saw it loading in the video you provided. Run 'lspci -nn' in Linux Terminal to verify.

Oh no, that's not my video :mrgreen: I linked to it because it looks just like that, the screen seems to suddenly turn off.

I guess it is not "just like" it then, eh?

Maybe not, then. Let's forget I ever linked to it… :)

I reinstalled ML and am running it without any modifications using UniBeast. I found the following:

Installer worked without any flags
No flags: Won't boot
-f -F -v: Black/off screen
IGPEnabler=No -x -v: Boots, no trackpad
IGPEnabler=No -v: Won't boot, gets stuck checking the NTFS volumes or something
IGPEnabler=No -f -F -v: Black/off screen
-x -v: Boots, no trackpad

So I suppose the issue is in some kext in the UniBeast stick?

If you didn't install any drivers for PS2, then you shouldn't expect the trackpad or keyboard to work...

And, you need to inject the correct ig-platform-id to boot without "IGPEnabler=N -x". The value you use usually depends on your screen resolution.

Are you booting from the HDD?
