Hello all. I am trying to get OS X Mavericks to install on my Dell XPS 12 (9Q33). As of right now I get to the gray screen with the Apple logo but no spinning circle under it. Here is a link to the laptop specs:

http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-12-9q33/pd?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn

Intel i5-4200u
Intel HD 4400
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 + Bluetooth 4.0

I have built one machine prior to this so I am kind of familiar with the process of installing the OS, granted it was a desktop build with a i7-3770k and a Gigabyte board so there was not much for me to do to get it to work.

I am not concerned with the wireless at this point since I know from searching around that the Intel wireless chips are not supported.

Any help would be nice.

Thank you.

*UPDATE 2013-12-14*
I am pretty happy with things so far. My biggest thing I want to get working is the power management. I would like things to not be running full throttle all of the time.

Working
Audio - Using SoundBlaster X-Fi USB adapter
Battery Status - Installed ACPI Batter Driver and it popped right up (should have done this first didn't have to patch anything after all)
Intel HD Graphics 4400 - QE/CI appear to be working perfectly

Semi-Working
Trackpad - no three finger scrolling
Bluetooth - Sometimes there, sometimes not

Not Working
Mac App Store - Unable to log in
Power Management - CPU still running at full turbo boost, fans always on
Built-in WiFi - Intel Based
Built-in Audio - Realtek ALC668 (looks like there are other people trying to get it to work but no luck yet)
Touchscreen - have not even attempted to get working yet. I consider getting this to work a bonus

*UPDATE 2013-12-10*

After messing around and following some tips from this thread I have a functional system. I will update with the links i used to download stuff to get it working soon. I just wanted to give a quick update before leaving the house today.

Working
Boots into OS X without using safe mode
1920x1080 resolution (no glitches anymore. used recommendation to set resolution in enoch)
Wireless - Tenda W311M working
Trackpad - used voodooPS2 found on another site. two finger scrolling works great. Have not messed with 3 finger functions yet

Semi Working:
Bluetooth - sometimes it is there and sometimes it isnt.

Not working:
Built-in Wireless - Its an intel chipset so i know it wont work anyway. Going to try a small USB adapter
Power Management - Fans always seem on and cannot view battery info in tool bar
Audio
Touchscreen
Correct CPU not listed in about this mac.
Correct ram spec not listed in about this mac.

Boot "-v" to diagnose. Likely it is a graphics issue. What value for ig-platform-id are you using?

Try also booting with "IGPEnabler=No -x -v"

Hi Guys,

Could someone give a brief list of things to do to get Mavericks installed properly? I have tried the Unibeast route but can only boot OSX with -x.

Thanks!

Edit: I have the XPS 12 as well of course.

I only get a black screen when I try to boot using UEFI and Clover r2330.

Try my clover 1902 on the 6th floor. Clover is not the newer, the better thing.

Ok it looks like I was thinking about the 10.8 install that would get to the Apple logo with no spinning. When I try to install 10.9 i get to the Apple logo and then it restarts instantly. I can not get passed the reboot loop trying any of the suggestions above.

The 10.8 install goes blank before I can see any error message as well.

also it may be worth mentioning that the 9Q33 only has USB 3.0 ports, no USB 2.0 ports.

If you have Haswell, you should look at this: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...-locked-msrs-hp-envy-15-j063cl-i7-4700mq.html

Ok. I have made some progress. Using the mach_kernal patches recommended I can boot and install OS X. Now I am having a problem getting it to boot from the installation.

I am not able to copy the modified mach_kernal over because the keyboard key repeat rate is extremely fast. My trackpad works perfectly smooth but when i try to type anything it prints out a string of that character.

I figure if i can figure out the keyboard issue i can use the terminal from within disk utility to copy the mach_kernal from the USB drive to the internal HD of the computer.

I guess my big question is why is my key rate so damn fast?

thank you for all of your help so far.

tried with USB keyboard with same result. How do i use a different keyboard driver on a UniBeast install USB?

USB keyboard and PS2 keyboard are handled by completely different driver code. So this is not a driver issue. Some sort of issue with the input system in general, or a problem caused in the input system by the ps2 driver?

Try removing the ps2 drivers from the USB. You will find them in /Extra/Extensions on the USB. ApplePS2Controller.kext and AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext. Use a USB keyboard/mouse for the install.
