Hi all, just bought an iMac G4 17 "and was interested in making a hardware upgrade because the truth is that it is a beautiful pc . I would like advice on motherboards that would be consistent to put an Intel i3 / i5 / i7 it was good in the space to work . Then everything else you would like advises Ersterhernd 's NUCiMac G4. Just say that the work of this community is impressive and I learn a lot of guides and tips , I have really wanted .:D:D

I thought about buying one of these and partly a processor that is compatible i3

Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD3

Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H

Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H

The configuration I describe would be right to mount a mod for iMac G4 following the instructions that you have done in your mods ? or would you see any changes or things that would not be compatible ? Thanks in advance, greetings.

Specs :
Mobo - GA-h81N (Gigabyte)
CPU - i3 4130 3,4 GHz intel hd 4400
RAM - 8GB Ram
HD - Crucial MX 120GB

They 're not answering me and I can seem heavy, but I just wanted you should say on whether the project was possible at least to start with what I put in the previous message , if you can give me some advice to start. Because I want to do and I hope but want to be sure and use materials that can function .

Hello Juapalso...

I don't think that the suggested mainboard will fit into the dome. The ports may be to high.
Have a look on Thin-mini ITX mainboards, they're thinner and can be powered by a 19V DC-adapter directly... But you will need low profile RAM, made for notebooks.

Best regards, Jascha

the motherboard Intel® Desktop Board DH61AGL work well for you imac g4 ?, I want to search the components.

The DH61AGL is a "low-end" Intel mainboard with limited features (NO USB 3.0!) made for Sandy Bridge processors, the 2nd Core-i generation. The 3rd generation, Ivy Bridge should work as well but only smaller CPUs with a low TDP.
Have a look on thin mini itx boards with Intels H81 chipset. There are some of them from Gigabyte, ASUS, AsRock...
I don't know if there are already thin mini itx boards for Skylake CPUs.

Best regards,
Jascha

Juapalso, have you made any progress here? I think modding the snowball will be awesome! This iMac was the first Mac I ever owned, but it's been mothballed since March 2008. I'd love to revive mine and follow your lead.
