I'm using Unibeast 4.0.2 and attempting to install Mavericks on my HP4540 probook. However, I cannot reach the installer that is specified in step 5 of the instructions.

I reach the Chimera boot screen, but when I select USB, the boot process begins, but simply restarts after briefly flashing the apple logo. I've tried various boot flags specified in the troubleshooting section on issuing boot flags.

I've tried the boot flags together and by themselves. (being careful to provide the right case)

Should I step back to a different version of the boot loader?

Are there any particular boot flags I should be using?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Reset BIOS defaults. Then follow instructions for bios settings depending on your hardware. It sounds as if you have DEP disabled.

I've confirmed that DEP is enabled.

I don't see any instructions that are applicable to my bios version which seems HP specific L74 Ver. 01.05.

Are there instructions applicable to this bios or should I load a new bios version?

This is listed as a Probook - Model C6Z37UT. What type of troubleshooting would you suggest?

I've tried multiple UEFI settings as well as what the firmware refers to as legacy settings. Still no luck

How can I find the root of the problem?

To verify BIOS version look at BIOS->System Information.

You do not need to enable UEFI (UEFI on/off simply doesn't matter if you're not using Clover). You do need to have legacy boot enabled.

Boot verbose (-v) to troubleshoot. Post photo of where it stops/reboots.

I've captured the beginning and last frame when booting in verbose mode.

Essentially, it looks like it has finished loading drivers and is beginning to boot os x, but reboots for some reason. Right before it fails, it says "Starting Darwin x86_64". Then, "Boot Args: boot-uuid=34DC1102-A422-3A07-850F-7FAF9FBC38866 rd=*UUID -v

I don't think you have a 4540s. The first screen shot shows using ig-platform-id 0xa260006 which is default for Haswell Intel HD graphics. Also, it shows the CPU as Core i5-4200M. As far as I know, there are no ProBook 4540s with Haswell CPUs.

You might want to make sure you have a true understanding of the hardware you have. Having accurate hardware details is the first step in a successful hackintosh install. A ProBook 4540s with Haswell CPU would be interesting indeed...

Seems likely you have an HP ProBook 450 G1 instead. If so, you need to patch the kernel for Haswell early reboot, or use Clover (which automatically patches the kernel as it is loaded).

For patching mach_kernel: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...-locked-msrs-hp-envy-15-j063cl-i7-4700mq.html

For installing Mavericks with Clover (recommended in any case): http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook-mavericks/128774-hp-probook-installer-clover-edition.html

How can I know for certain what type of hardware profile I have?

The model is printed on the bezel of the display on the lower right corner (of the ProBook 4540s).

Additional information can be seen in BIOS, System Information.

You can use a program like CPU-Z under Windows to view CPU, chipset, graphics, etc.
