Brightness stopped working on 4440s

The controls for the brightness don't work in osx and neither does the slider.

I'm not sure where to start diagnosing this issue.

Previously, when using the probook installer, I never used blinkscreen because it worked fine without it.

Re-patch DSDT and install "OS X support kexts" with latest ProBook Installer.

Oh wow, Been a while since I looked at that. Second time I did a probook I took ioreg from windows and manually patched it with iasl for the experience but I've forgotten a lot of that :)

Also note a couple of other oddities that I'm unsure if they are related:

1. Left usb ports won't charge an iphone but will charge other phones. Works fine in windows.
2. Brightness works fine in windows
3. left usb ports are running at usb 2.0 speeds in osx. (running at usb 3.0 speeds in windows)
4. Battery is only lasting about 20 min, but that may just be because it's old. Haven't tested in windows.

DSDT is not patched correctly. Use the latest ProBook Installer to patch DSDT. See guide for step-by-step.

FYI: Windows does not have ioreg. The ioreg is specific to OS X.

There is evidence of some 3rd party software installed (notably 'little snitch'). It could be causing your battery life issues. According to ioreg your current max battery capacity is the same as the design capacity, although the cycle count is rather large.

USB issues could be because of incorrect DSDT patch (your DSDT lacks patches for USB3).
 
Should I delete the current dsdt? I think I just patched over it last time.

Does not matter. Just follow the instructions in the guide for re-patch.
 
hi Rehabman Im having similar problem with my 4430s both with maverick and lion
brightness was working b4 but sonce I used latest probook installer nothing
I know brightness has always been a problem with probook
but now does not do anything
I also added both of the dsdt patches on you repo but still no joy

Re-patch DSDT using the latest ProBook Installer. Remove blinkscreen after you do that, as it is now unnecessary.
