Hi guys I’m a little frustrated here  I’ve been reading in these forums how some people have been able to install Mountain Lion on HP Elitebook 8460p with Unibeast. I can’t…here is my deal.
Specs : Hp Elitebook 8460p I5 2.5ghz , 4 gbram etc.
The only physical change I made to this laptop is I switched the 250gb Wd hard drive that comes with for a 300Gb Intel SSD and that’s it.
I'm able to install Mountain Lion only in safe mode , if I run the installer without –x it’ll load for a little while and then the screen goes black and that’s it.
Now once is done with the installation in safe mode and restarts , I am able to see the USB Drive (installation drive) and the HD with Mountain Lion in it or so I think.
But If I pick the HD it starts loading (apple screen) for a little while and the screen goes black and that’s it.Normal or safe mode I get the same result after the installation.
That’s all what I got.
I thought it was some bios issue so I followed RehabMan advice I disabled:
-Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O...didn't boot neither.
- Then I set all BIOS settings to default
- Turned off "Wake on LAN/Wake on USB."
- Fast Boot is disabled

I’m using the Unibeast method with a 16gb PNY usb drive.Don't know what else to do.
Any help or comments or something that can keep me going trying to install Mountain Lion in this laptop will be greatly appreciate. Thanks

Are you following this guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook/77057-guide-installing-mountain-lion-hp-probook.html

Does your 8460 have Radeon? Did you disable it in BIOS before running the installer? What is the screen resolution?

Okay , I'm able to get in now...but only in safe mode.
The keyboard and mouse (trackpad) are not working may be because its running in safe mode ? I don't know.
The USB 3.0 doesn't work (I've read about it , not a big deal for now.)...only the one and only 2.0 USB port it has so I connected an USB extention of 3 ports so I have my wireless mouse and the USB drive that use to boot up working great.
The video resolution is 1024x768 not 1366x768 it is a Intel HD3000...I'm assuming is not working as it should because is in safe mode ? even though I have transparency.
No I'm not using the guide you referred to , I'm using the unibeast guide , but I read your advices about the Bios so I went for it.
It seems that there's something interrupting the loading (apple screen) in normal mode it just goes black after 4 secs. But "no problem in safe mode".So at least I can "see" and work in safe mode ... now I need to figure out why it can't load Mountain Lion normally , any help would be really appreciate.

Just in case is important: Mountain Lion 10.8.4 is installed natively from the get go.
Model Identifier: MacBookPro 8.1

I honestly don't understand why I'm having such a hard time installing Mountain Lion in this Laptop.

I have a Desktop: evga X51, i7 @3.06 Ghz, 10gb ram, Geforce GTX 680Ti Boost, SSD Intel 180 Gb running Mavericks.
A second
Desktop: Asus P5KC (with a modified Bios to get AHCI) [email protected], 8gb Ram, ATI 5770 1Gb, SSD 60Gb with Mountain Lion 10.8.5
A HP 311 Mini Laptop (with a modified Bios as well) and compatible new wireless card, [email protected],3 Gb Ram, Nvidia GeForce 9400M, SSD 60 Gb. Running Snow Leopard 10.6.8
They all run great !!!

Why this one is so hard to come around...

Okay RehabMan , I tried your link up , after going on my own with others techniques and Unibeast + Multibeast and manually installing kexts , I almost got it but one way or another I kept getting KP.

Everything seems fine with the guide until it restarts for first time after I installed all the things the guide say from HP ProBook Installer 6.1.
It loads from the hard drive (I see the boot loader) but 5 secs after the wheel start spinning the screen blinks like is gonna give me the main screen... and it does it for a second time and immediately gets black and that's it.
After this happens I'm not able to get back in not even in safe mode.

Do you think it would be 'cause I picked the wrong model ? I picked 4x40s since is Sandy Bridge and all , I honestly don't know which one to pick from for my Elitebook 8460p i5.... Should I try 4x30s ? instead ?

Please Advice.
Thanks in advance.

You're selecting wrong configuration! Why don't you select 8x60p in HP Probook Installer? You're using 8460p right?

Thanks for point out that I was using the wrong HP Probook version 6.1...Anyway I downloaded the HP Probook 6.1.11 and the same happens.:banghead:

Everything seems fine (the installation goes smooth , no problems) until it restarts for first time after I installed all the things the guide says I should.
It loads from the hard drive (I see the boot loader and the mac screen logo) but 5 secs after the wheel start spinning the screen blinks once like is gonna give me the main screen...and immediately gets black and that's it.
After this happens I can't load the system straight up nor in safe mode , my only choice is to re-install all over again
I think Im gonna start checking the options one at the time in the installer and see how that goes.
May be Im checking to many of them , I don't know. If
anybody has any ideas to throw in ...Im more than willing to try anything out. Thanks guys!

Take a screenshot of what you chosen in HP Probook Installer. I used HP 8460p before and it was perfect! Does your laptop have AMD Radeon card or not? Because I don't think it's supported.

If you still can't get it work, follow one of 2 sticky guides here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook-mavericks/

The video card is a Intel HD3000 and I followed the guide that RehabMan pointed out.
I've read the one for Mavericks you talk about it's almost the same.

I'm only using HP Probook installer 6.1.11 ...again the installation goes great , but once I checked the stuff out in the installer (and use kext wizard to repair permissions and rebuild cache.)

I restart/shutdown the laptop (none of them work anyway I have to turn off the laptop the hard way manually) The laptop starts by itself I can see the boot loader , the Mac screen shows up the wheel start spinning and 5 secs later the wheel stop and the screen turns black and that's it.

Now if I try to get into safe mode... same deal , I see the progress bar and the spinning wheel moving at the same time and once the spinning wheel stops the screen turns black and that's it , Safe mode doesn't work neither.I have to reinstall the system all over again if I want to try different....it sucks!!

Now nguyenmac you said for you it was perfect , do you remember how did you do it ? What did you check in the installer ? I know it has to be some kext problem cause by the installer or something.
Here I leave a screen shot of the HP Probook 6.1.1

I think your selection is right. Try booting with "DSDT=No -v" after running PBI to see where it gets stuck.
