Hello all,

I read somewhere that you can upgrade the screen with a replacement to get Full HD. I googled a lot and don't know which LCD (with LED backlit) to choose, does anybody of you already did an upgrade or know where to search for this type of notebook? One condition, the screen must be of same quality as the notebook already has (no visible rasters and good contrast I mean).

Thanks in advance!

edit: I'm planning to get a 4740s (or another stylisher one if anybody got it fully working). Before I buy I would like to be sure if this screen can be upgraded to Full HD (1920x1080).

For the 4740s because it already has a dual-link cable for its 1600x900 screen you won't need to replace the cable.

So, you just need to find a screen...

See these two threads and see what you can come up with:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook/88212-4540s-lcd-screen-1080p-replacement.html
http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-proboo...isplay-upgrade-1080p-update-2012-06-30-a.html

I'm thinking that a 17" 1080p screen for the 4730s would work fine with the 4740s.

Hello RehabMan,

I just finished reading the 2 threads and I'm not that comfortable in LCD LED screens. Can I just buy any 17 inch full HD panel or do I need to watch out for specific connectors? (sorry if this sounds dumb or something).

You need the right connector in the right place. And the dimensions have to match...

I checked laptopscreen.com, and they don't list a 1080p screen for the 4730s or 4740s, that's why I said look at that thread. Perhaps there is someone in there that provided information on 4730s 1080p screens... It is a long thread though... and you may have to read the entire thing, or at least do some smart searching.

Hello,

I'll have a look and will read ALL responses :) Hope to find some clues. Even that I know it's possible is already enough. I did saw that (forgot his name) already transplanted a Full HD panel in a 4730s, will look that thread up for everybody else who come across this topic.

Again, thanks for the links, really appreciated :)

Hi,

it was an odyssey.Seller, yes V5 available in stock, so I made an order.
Two weeks later, nothing happend.Ok contact seller again, oh we have a problem, before we sent out every display it will checked and we observed it had a defect, sorry its was the only one in stock. We will contact our distributor--next six weeks nothing happend. So I canceled my order.Seller did not answer on Emails and so on.
I made a new order at another store, but now for a B173HW01 V4.
One day later the the screen arrived, that was yesterday.
I built it in immediately yesterday evening and what should I say, it works great without any trouble:headbang:.
Only the color profile or calibration is a little bit saturated.

Nice to hear that your screen fits! Too bad that the other screen didn't work out :( The saturation can be eliminated by re-calibrating I assume? :) You don't need any special equipment for calibrating (because it's a wide-gamut)?
