My laptop has been great, same install for over a year now. A few months ago I upgraded to the 1080P screen. Had rebuilt ktexts after that but no problems, ran for months.

ProBook 4540S top spec - Ivy quad I7, disabled AMD discreet card, 12GB RAM, 128GB SSD.

Today I go to boot up like any other day, black screen. Try to get into single user mode to delete the graphics ktexts, it gets stuck at this root device UUID screen, even if I boot off my Yosemite USB.

I can boot into OS X installer using the recovery boot option in Clover, but that's the only way I can get into... Anything? I ran a disk utility scan on my main volume and it fixed an issue with the number if hard links, but now it scans fine.

Any ideas? I haven't made any system changes in ages. Have tried all sorts of boot flags, in verbose mode it gets stuck at this UUID screen, without verbose mode it is just a black screen. Safe mode is the same. No single mode means I'm stuck.

Left it for half an hour and it's booted into safe mode. (IGEnabler=No -x) Seems to boot normally too, just with no video output. I wonder why my video profile just randomly nukes itself, must be a reason...

So in Safe mode neither Clover nor PBi will install. Scripts fail with error 112. Safe Mode issue?

Clover will install to an HFS USB stick. PBI won't. FAT volumes aren't showing due to safe mode. Hmm...

I guess I'll take a trip to the Apple Store tomorrow and use one of their display machines to make a PBI USB and go from there. What a PITA, laptop has been perfect until today.

IGPEnabler has no effect with Clover. It is flag specific to Chimera.

Deleting kexts is never a solution.

Post EFI/Clover folder.

You cannot mount FAT32 partitions in safe mode. As expected in such a scenario, tools like the Clover installer and PBI cannot work.

Interesting, it will not boot without it. -x it will not boot, IGEnabler=No -x and it will. I wonder what's going on. I will upload those files in a bit, my only Internet connected device at the moment is an iOS device.

Boot using your USB.

Currently taking a 2008 MacBook running Windows 10 to the Apple Store to get them to reinstall OS X on it so I can create a new USB. Unfortunately I nuked my USB last night playing with Clover/PBI in safe mode last night, and the internet here is 256k. Rookie mistake.

You can create a Clover USB from Windows (the partition is FAT32).
