Just a quick FYI for all you HP/Compaq laptop users. The power cord that came with some 2010-2012 models has been recalled. I believe this includes some Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge Probook models. Apparently the cord poses a risk of fire.

Fill out a form on HP's site to see if your model qualifies for a replacement part.

Potentially affected power cords can be identified by a molded mark on the adapter end of the power cord. The molded mark will be “LS-15”. Not all power cords with the “LS-15” molded mark are affected.

Thank you for the precious info Tony!

Thanks for posting the recall notice. I happen to have a two year old HP Pavilion notebook that qualifies for the recall. Even though I saw an article about the recall on Arstechnica.com, I didn't pay much attention. When I saw the posting here, I chased the link to the HP website. After following their instructions for qualification, I was prompted to enter my shipping address. I should have a new power cord in about 10 days or so.
